Time to go Jim. The turning point 16:36 - Feb 22 with 38856 views | ThreeLions | Losing to the team on top and in form is no great shame but the way you do it by playing absolute dross is clearly on show this afternoon. Today has to be the turning point that the owners see it's not working and we need a change if we are to save the season. Crowds are falling, the players look totally demotivated and drained of any spark they once held. I've given him a bit longer to sort it out after him sticking with us last season when we were on the brink of nonexistence but you can't run a football team off the past and the current and future holds more importance. Thanks for everything Jim we appreciate it but it's just not working.

Time to go Jim. The turning point on 13:43 - Mar 12 by D_Alien | Correct, which is why JM has to put a team out on Saturday that believes in itself They've every reason to, but then they had after the convincing Yeovil victory which sadly led to a series of non-performances, starting with the home loss to Oldham For that reason alone, Saturday will be approached more in hope than expectation |
Oldham bullied us all over the pitch a few weeks ago and they'll try to do that again on Saturday. They'll try to stop us playing our pretty football. Everybody knew that we had to stop Fondop , we left him unmarked in front of the goal and gave him a free header. Rank bad defending and it cost us the game. We need to try to keep the ball as far away from our goal as possible on Saturday because Latics adopt the same tactic as Tamworth, they launch free kicks and throw ins into the box at every opportunity. We can out football them though and cause them problems if we play on the front foot rather than trying to manage the game and overplay in our own half of the pitch. [Post edited 12 Mar 19:44]

Most teams at this level could outfootball them, you’re right though, need to try and stop them getting the ball into our defensive third. Best way is to keep the ball as much as possible, which we didn’t do in the home game. Conlon returning does improve them, and I do wish we’d made an addition in the middle of the park because that’s one area they’ll have an advantage of it becomes a battle. Rossiter got amongst East and Gilmour last time, though with both looking to drive on more now that could negate any advantage they have. Barlow will be key.

Yes, when the manager has cited tiredness as being our enemy I'm very surprised that we didn't strengthen in midfield. East and Gilmour are probably more susceptible than other players when it comes to eventually running low on energy, they always put a big shift in and there is nobody to replace them. You're right about Conlon, he's quality.

The turning point on 12:06 - Mar 14 with 4798 views | wheniwasyourage | I think the last three performances have shown a real transformation—better pressing from the front, controlled aggression in all part of the park; and a good mix of long and short balls, especially the third goal against Altrincham with that assist from the keeper. I've said before, performances will keep improving as the manager brings more quality into the side. It's a long-term project, and while I'm still not keen on the manager's communication style, results speak for themselves. Well done to the team and manager.

We weren't comprehensively beaten though. I would like the truth about the first half (tactics). Bleep me! All Jim had to say was go and entertain this crowd. Second half we were the better team but that doesn't always mean the winning one

The first half was painful but I can't believe even JM would have told them to play like that especially on a day like today

James, you're refusing to face up to reality I think we understand why; it's due to the amount of time, effort and expense you're investing in travelling from Sussex. It's the huge space that Dale has taken up, and to admit that our current manager would require his team to play like that threatens the foundations of all of that So you've acknowledged it was painful. That's a start. But James, that first half has been inculcated into this squad from the word go. No young kid with ambitions to becoming a pro footballer dreams of passing it around at the back. No midfielder dreams of standing like a statue while the defenders take minutes out of the game deciding who should make a forward pass, losing all momentum, excitement, entertainment Painful indeed That's all down to the manager, not the players. It's against their natural instincts Now, managers come and go. It won't always be like this, so having chosen your footballing cause, stick with it. But please, in the meantime, just recognise that reality. The players are so much better than they're being allowed to be. They didn't lose yesterday, it was the coaching system which lost, and a manager who believes in it, most likely because he'd have no alternative to offer

Honestly don’t know of any fans who can be classed as either. Not met one fan who has stood firmly behind McNulty and has claimed he is doing a really good job. In fact almost all have similar opinions about where his failings lie.

That’s the last thing he’ll do. Why should he resign and miss out on a severance payment? I wonder if he’d do a BBM though and look for another job which would allow him to leave gracefully? It seems an awfully long time since he didn’t go to Burton though!

Have you listened to any of his post match interviews? That first half performance in Jim's eyes is 'controlling the game'. Never mind we somehow didn't go in 1-0 down when Gordon gifted them practically an open goal and they contrived to hit the post. Of course that first half performance didn't bother him or else he should be shouting at the players to step it up rather than stood like a statue on the sideline stroking his chin.

Bloody hell, I'd have at least thought it slightly better if he said he wanted to conserve energy and then what should have been put superior fitness come to the fore in the second.

How about if the board came out and reiterated the 3 year plan line and that they believe despite recent performances Jim will be the manager next season?

Then, as Fitzochris has intimated, we'll know were we stand and current ST holders can make an informed choice

As much as I’d like to think this would be the case it is also part of the problem. Don’t forget the board member who is in charge of footballing decisions is the same guy that gave McNulty the job in the first place. He also has a proven awful track record of getting managerial appointments wrong because although he is making the footballing decisions he knows nothing about the game either. Until we are shot of both the club will simply not move forward.
