Saints' highest paid director was paid £1.28m in year ending 30 June 2024 08:50 - Mar 29 with 1092 viewsPatfromPoole

A little snippet from the accounts.

And this was a year when we were in the Championship, and with a much-reduced turnover.

God knows how much we have been paying them since being in the Prem.

I'm sure the fanbase wouldn't begrudge the people tasked with making key decisions on behalf of the Club from having a remuneration package commensurate with their talents....

I just hope that the director in question isn't Ankersen, given that he has purportedly been seconded to be the chief decision maker for Goztepe.

I think it's like the Les Reed situation used to be: when things are going well here, he's the man responsible; when they're not, he isn't. Goztepe fans will probably get told he's in charge here, not there, when they hit a bad patch.

Wherever he really is working, be it in Turkey or England, SFC will probably be footing the bill.

Need my head checked, but Les Reed running things wouldn’t be as bad as these jokers. At least he knows what a football is…..

Ready and waiting to mop up those European places......

It’s a reflection of the modern day world unfortunately Pat.

Directors rewarded obscene amounts of money for abject failure has become the norm.

Just look at :-

1. Thames Water. Billions of pounds in debt but still paying share holders massive dividends at the same time as dumping effluent into our rivers.

2. The failed Track and Trace system during Covid which cost tax payers £42 billion.

3. The Post Office scandal where innocent people were wrongly imprisoned with some resorting to taking their own lives.

It’s suck it up for us ordinaries and doubles all round in the Board Rooms.

I certainly wouldn't begrudge the people tasked with making key decisions on behalf of the Club from having a remuneration package commensurate with their talents, in which case, the remuneration package commensurate with the SR directors abilities should be more like £12.80 than £1.28m for the top earner. They should not be rewarded for abject failure.

The accounts don’t say who the highest-paid director is.

I imagine it included a chunky bonus for promotion to the Prem.

I don’t mind that so much.

But a high basic salary when we were in the Championship is difficult to justify for a business in a League where most clubs are facing financial ruin.
