If we get another barrow load of cash from the gift that keeps giving (Eze) how much would we have to pay to get Edwards.

Poll: Wherever QPR end up playing home games in the future, what is most important?

Depends if Southampton want to sell. If we get a barrowload from an Eze sale, Southampton will know that and up the fee. We have to be careful not to blow our load in one go, ooooh err....

Rolls Royce of a player. No brainer so you would definitely buy him because you'd make a massive profit when he eventually went somewhere bigger. Can't see Southampton, despite the way they've gone about this season, being stupid enough to sell though.

They purchased him less than 12 months ago for over £3 million. Peterborough are likely to have a large sell on clause so the only way for a sale to be financially viable for Southampton is if we put in a bid over £5 million, I suspect Southampton would want more than that to sell to a divisional rival though.

£5 million is about £4 million over our budget, even with the Eze money.

What he's worth now has little relation to what he was bought for.

I have no idea about Southampton's squad but clearly they didn't feel he was good enough or ready for the PL even for a team that is one of the earliest ever to be relegated from the top flight.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

All depends on what the new manager wants at Southampton, may well go out on loan again, they have a number of very good championship centre halves who are unliley to get a move given how this season went

I reckon they sent him out on loan to us to get championship experience for next season, as it was obvious they were going down, even in January

They'd be stupid to sell and he'd be stupid to leave.

I'm sure he's enjoying it here (isn't his family QPR?) but he's in with a shout of winning the league next season for a club who can pay him more.

Our best chance of having him next season was if they stayed up.

Yep, you imagine the meltdown on here and elsewhere if we had been relegated this season and agreed that Charlie Kelman could stay at Leyton Orient (a divisional rival) for another season.

Edwards has been outstanding but its surely not going to happen sadly.

I sadly feel that Edwards will be out of our league... unless he feels a real connection here and perhaps we then pay bigger buck to sell him on again in a few years. I think if Southampton had stayed up they may have let him go. I suspect he will be an integral part of their squad next season. If not, we could always ask to pick him up on loan for another season. He is a player destined for the top level though.

Never knowingly right.

Yes he won’t be here next season but I am enjoying watching him he is calm under pressure rarely makes a poor pass strong in tackle good with his head as Clive put it a class act.

We aren't the only ones who know about him. IF Southampton decide to sell, it won't be to a mid-table Championship side and it wouldn't be anywhere near our price range either.

Well they have Jack Stephens (club captain), Taylor Harwood-Bellis (England international), Jan Bednarak (25 games this season) at the club who would probably be ahead of him.
If they cash in on Harwood-Bellis then no chance we get Ronnie. If they don't then perhaps we get to loan him for a season. Otherwise I'm sure they'll br asking for £10m for him

Peterborough have 50%, yes, 50% sell on clause.

Agree with this .
Just enjoying watching a very good player play in our hoops.
Not a chance he’ll be with us next season so might as well whilst it lasts .

He’s a serious contender for player of the year now despite only being here since early January .
He isn’t our player which might go against him understandably, but he has been quality.

There is one possibility: they might loan him to us for another season. This would help them with promotion as he could play against everyone else but them.

But this is highly unlikely, would cost a lot and be against our own development policy. Remember, he was only brought in as we had lots of defensive injuries at the time.

He ain't coming.

Be wary of the loan made permanent.

Beat me to it. Southampton have a set back 4, same guys as last years (Walker-Peters/Stephens/Bednarek, Manning). Southampton will get parachute allowance but might still have to sell.

Also-
Dunne, Colback, Paal, Michy, Fox, & Andersen are all not very likely to be back. This also could lead to selling Kelman... who could be a very highly marketable asset right now. A 20+ goal scorer who has played well against good competition.

If Southampton misuse that lad, I'll not be in forgiving mood. I think there is insane potential there. He can obviously carry and play and all of that, but when we were spent on Saturday and our team was baggage it was him chucking himself in front of blocks and doing the dirty work. I think he's exceptional. I haven't seen a centre back like that, at that age, for a long time.

The big question we need to be asking our club is how is that lad playing for Barnet, 8 miles up the road, and then Peterborough, and it's Southampton picking him up. Where are we on that? He's moved twice for less culminative money than we spent on Madsen.

That's the sort of signing you pick up from physical scouting. People like Mel Johnson watching drek Barnet games on a Thursday night. We're too busy trying to pick things off the Excel spreadsheet in Switzerland. That guy, like Adomah, was playing non-league football within walking distance of our stadium and we never sniffed him. Now we're just grateful for a loan.

I think him being at Barnet and us not picking him up can be excused to a point as he only played maybe a handful of games but his time at Peterborough should definitely not have gone unnoticed

He had 4 years there with a season in The Championship was playing Junior England levels and I think even Captained them at times and pretty sure was in team of the year for League one

Maybe we did inquire who knows

£3 mill was a bargain for Southampton

Spot on.

And the question that needs to be asked now is: “how do we ensure that this doesn’t happen again?”

If you focus only on data is there not a risk that lower league players, certainly non-league, won’t have the data available (not to the same level anyway) that would even get him on our radar.

We should have been looking to sign him from Barnet. It’s beating Posh to these signings not beating Southampton that is the point. That’s where the value is.

How are Peterborough repeatedly picking these sorts of players up then?

A career Second Division club, with limited resources, insane manager churn, provocative owner... but repeatedly spotting, signing, developing and selling exactly the sort of player we should be all over and say is our raison d'être.

Why are Peterborough able to do this and we're not? Peterborough have signed at least a dozen of these that we should have been all over.

It's not luck.

Jack Rudoni, at Wimbledon for years, literally four miles from our ground, available for a few hundred k. I think he even played a couple of games at Loftus Road, for them, during lockdown. We watched him, our head of recruitment loved him, and yet he goes up to Huddersfield for a game. Anybody watching the fcking EFL highlights on Quest would have spotted him. Might be about to get promoted with Coventry. Where are we signing players from? Brest.

Sorba Thomas, pacy, aggressive, fast winger. Not a bad go at replacing BOS, a pretty bloody decent go at replacing Willock. Playing at Boreham Wood, 15 minutes away. Huddersfield again. Terrorised us when he played us, made good money on him. Where are we signing players from? Lugano.

How are Huddersfield, an appallingly run club in West Yorkshire, picking up that on our doorstep, while we're signing Zan Celar?

I know all the logical reasons that make it very difficult for us to sign him but that shouldn’t stop us doing everything possible to get him onside

Strong and stable my arse.

Presumably if they kept him, he could also play against everyone else apart from them, while, uh, playing for them and not us?
