Here we go again after the Xmas festivities can we put Oxford to bed

Like watching a re-run combination of the Martin & Still eras. Awful defending, no end product, too slow, sideways & backwards passing etc etc oh, and subbing our best players. I despair.

Poll: What would you choose as our Football Club's official name?

The 2nd half against WBA

Then the dismal defeat at Norwich.

A draw at home to Coventry.

A pathetic effort and loss away at Oxford.

This team is going nowhere. The players have reverted to comfortable mode once Tonda was given the job full time & the boss himself keeps making the wrong team selection followed by the wrong substitutions.

Merry Christmas my fu(king arse.

That was dire.
I've seen better Sunday morning games than that.
This bunch of players just don't care enough, other teams want it more than we do.
The opposition don't have better players but they are better organised & more committed.
Why do we persist with playing 3 ctr backs.
It leaves us so exposed on the flanks with Manning & Fellows playing as wingers.
Hate to say this but our substitutions made us worse again, Romeu looks a slow shadow of what he used to be, likewise Fraser & as for Archer he offers nothing.

Can't understand why it's reverted back to Martinshite.
Is it Stephens' moronic influence, or is the whole management infrastructure just not up to it?

You'll be happy to hear it's now 2-1 to Oxford.
But of course we've heard it all before...

Not happy with any loss Ron11, but for Christ sake when is it going to change, why is it that we constantly revert back to the shite we were playing under RM, why is it we keep employing managers who think they can play the same way with the pretty much the same players and get a different outcome. Baffles the shit out of me.

Other than the first few games under Tonda, and 2nd half against Coventry, we have reverted back to slow, predictable keep ball, from the back. This just invites trouble and there is no end product.

I can only assume the players are being told to play this way, as it is happening nearly every week and looks so predictable.

I still don't get the obsession with 3 CB's ? It doesn't work. Just go to 4-4-2 and stop p***ing around at the back. it can't be any worse than what we have recently seen ?

Archer and Romeu were just straight replacements. The shape or tactics didn't change.
Romeu just looks too slow and past it.

Oxford had a simple game plan - shoot on sight and long balls to catch us on the break and it worked, They still had more shots on target, with 30% possession.

Eckert insists on playing three centre backs for reasons only he knows. I can't fathom for the life of me why we don't turn up at these grounds and let the opposition worry about us for a change - instead of Eckert worried about them scoring.

Everyone, Eckert included, knows we have a pretty poor keeper and defence who are struggling to compete even at this level. Stop the three CB's bollix and outscore the opposition. We're never keeping a clean sheet with this set-up at the back. The old adage of attack is the best form of defence applies here. I couldn't give a rats' arse if we win games 5-4 or 4-3 - as long as we win.

And FFS stop with the needless substitutions. Every team in this league is playing a lot of games in a short period - but I bet most of them didn't sub their best players today (after a weeks' rest anyway) and concentrated on winning today, here & now. Hands up who knew we weren't going to win today once Scienza was withdrawn?...

My reply was aimed at the 'heard it all now' comment, not yours... but yes it's baffling and almost as if the coonts are deliberately taking the piss out of us.

Totally agree and if you are gonna insist on playing 3 play the same 3 minus Slack!
And playing Fellows as a RWB is totally counter productive he does his damage in the opponents half and isn’t a defender !

Why drop Joshua Quarshie today for slack Jack? Joshua Quarshie is a better player despite being a lot less experienced!

Eckert thought we'd win today without having to get into top gear, that's why. He saw a struggling Oxford in the drop zone & thought today would be a good day to bring slack Jack back into the team.

The outcome, sadly, was all on Tonda today. Time for him to reassess, change things a little, tinker here & there and learn quickly.

Bazunu was doing what he’s an absolute expert at, being beaten by a diagonal ball across him low to the ground. It matters not whether it’s from his left or his right, he goes down every time as if he is wearing old fashioned lead deep sea diving boots.

He’s a half decent reaction keeper ( then again at professional level they all are ) who can play with his feet. Given time to think about anything and he is just exceptionally poor.

Every man and his dog ( except Nick apparently ) can see we need a new keeper but no, this is Sports Republic who won’t replace him, or for that matter buy a decent striker, preferring to hope that sick note Stewart will come good when all the evidence of the last two and a half years proves he won’t.
