I've just had to be optimistic for some incredible reason. Tonda has got the same players that he had when we went on that winning streak and there were signs of flowing football last night which after the way we conceded surprised me The Wall will be full of confidence thinking they will walk all over us so let's surprise them

Unless my recollection is incorrect, I don't think when we have played a team in the top 6 at the time of playing them we have not managed to beat any of them. If we want to pick up some points tomorrow and the weekend we are going to have to break that dreadful record.
For a team of our supposed quality (that everyone goes on about) and depth we are woefully under performing.

Don Goodman was saying that very same thing on the Birmingham co-commentary that "a team with the quality of players that Southampton have should be much further up the league that they are" or at least along those lines that we should be doing better than we are So is that down to the players underperforming or the lack of a quality management/coaching staff?

The problem is that we don't have quality players in the key positions. The spine of the team is even weaker than last season. You can spend as much as you like on decorating a house, but, if its foundations are weak, it's still going to collapse.
