Reports say that as part of the Warm Homes Scheme about to be introduced there will be an extra £30 on gas bills to encourage a move to electric heat pumps. Is that fair?

Not everyone can afford a heat pump and all the associated changes, poorly thought out policies seem to be a hallmark of this Government.

The drive to net zero is costing us now and in the future and driven all because of political ideology. Miliband will eventually disappear up his own a**e oneday but if this continues the effects of his tenure will be felt for years.

as a pensioner a heat pump is way out of the question, tell old Milibrand i"ll just sit in front of an open fridge door to keep warm, and read a book.

Country is in a total mess due to all these MPs over the decades , our monies going elsewhere instead of where it should be going.

It's not as if heat pumps are a better option than gas boilers either. They're more expensive and far less useful unless you're in a modern new build.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Some of the reports say the cost of installing a heat pump is about £7K even with government grants taken into account.

They don't even work properly, to get the best out of them you need to install underfloor heating and they're not that great then

That is a lot. So how much top up would the average person receiving a grant need to add?

Ed Milliband being talked about as one of the potential Leaders of Labour after this useless Starmer is hopefully booted out .]

Wes Streeting and Ange also on the outside rails as the outsider bet too .

Andy Burnham although not a current MP and barred from the leadership battle if one ever happens , seems to be a voice for a lot of disgruntled MPs .

I just can’t understand how some of these names come up.

Rayner may be popular with party members, but to a lot of the general public she will simply be unelectable - she’s had 2 “run ins” over her taxes and the public wont buy it. Miliband, been there and I can’t see us going back. I’d prefer Starmer to Miliband tbh. Not sure about Streeting.

Cupboard is pretty bare in the all the parties.

They all follow the same mad ideology so who ever it is when replacing the mad mullah will be treated by many with the same disdain. It says a lot when labour who have been a disaster since gaining power still has the same leader despite the scandals.

I see Norway has decided to reopen some of its oil fields as new technology means it can now recover remaining gas and oil at a lower cost.

Meanwhile in the socialist republic that is UK, Ed Miliband has signed a deal to import £10 billion of gas and oil a year.

At the same time labour is committed to closing UK gas and oil fields and not investing in new fields. The North Sea oil and gas industry has laid off 1000 workers a month in the last year.

Madness put 12,000 workers on benefits and import our gas and oil from Norway.

If they are claiming a benefit due to ill health of someone living at the property, I don't think they have to contribute anything, maybe for a car charger they would have to, but I'm not sure on that, I used to see a lot of those systems down West Wales, but luckily for me I don't get the work down in those areas these days and long may it continue, to old for all that driving and then having to work when I get there.

Never mind the EV car policy is on the downward spiral , £40 k for a car which can only do about 200 miles without not many charging points in the UK .

Tesla is now probably in a fight to flog their stuff , around where I live most cars are hybrid and look very expensive to buy for the working man .

Petrol will always be the go to reason to buy a motor for me .

Maybe Milliband should look at his Leader jetting around the World on a taxpayers paid aircraft with all his hangers on .

Or maybe his chauffeur driven Jags , all electric I assume .

A govt that doesn’t understand poverty, low wages, unemployment and of course those taking money out of a system they shouldn’t be allowed to nor have contributed towards.

Milibabd's decision to stop drilling for oil and gas looking sillier by the days. We have large untapped oil and gas reserves which we need to exploit rather than relying on Arab oil.

It makes sense to move towards greener and alternative energy sources and to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, but I totally agree with you about using our own resources as opposed to purchasing oil and gas from other countries. Why spend money abroad when we can get spend it here, it helps with trade balances etc and can protect existing and create new jobs in the U.K.

In fairness a lot of this stuff started under the Tories, but Milliband has taken it to extremes.

A moratorium needs to be placed on all Net Zero targets. Massive support needs to be thrown behind new nuclear. If we've got 7.5Bn barrels of North Sea Oil that's ours then drill it out instead of buying from someone else.

Yes, invest in new renewable technology, but slowly phase it in when it's proven to be just as reliable as existing sources instead of impoverishing us all by forcing it on the country.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

There's billions and billions of oil barrels that could be filled, just lying under the seabed offshore, that could help us massively to bring energy prices down, plus the gas reserves there, makes no sense to go all out into alternative energy sources which is costing the consumer a massive amount of money, plus he's paying other countries to supply us with oil and gas. Mans a complete clown like the rest of this government.

This oil and gas is not going anywhere. It stays in the ground for use in a later date by our ancestors if required.

Currently the oil and gas prices are low, deliberately perhaps, to harm the Russian economy and force them to the peace table with some jeopardy.

A new Government in favour of fossil fuels can develop it if the want to. As a child we learned not to eat all the smarties at once although that is now being suggested.

There is something in that argument in that the natural resources indeed remain under the seabed. The problem is that much of our heavy industry, refining capacity etc does not survive because of high energy costs, and that is likely to be lost for ever.
