ENOUGH!! 15:15 - Jan 19 with 2942 viewsLongsufferingR

I know others swear by the use of the ignore button, but I joined this board to read and occasionally respond to others' views on the club we support. Whether I agree or not with those views, it's been interesting and informative. It's a fantastic site with a fantastic creator/moderator/reporter and I have throughly enjoyed it over the years.

Yesterday was just a step too far for me with virtually every thread infected by a single poster who it appears is deliberately trying to wind people up and sabotage the site. Well, it's worked. As is all too common, the valuable aspects of social media ruined by a small minority (or individual) who see themselves above the rest. Shame.

I assume you're talking about the same bloke who I've had on 'ignore' for some time now, and by the sound of it, so should you!

Life is too short to waste time or get woundup by no-marks. Give them the elbow and don't give them the oxygen of publicity and recognition they're clearly craving.

There have always been posters like that , always negative , getting personal when challenged .
They get bored eventually ..

Be kind - if your brand is only posting when we lose, our season on season form improvements leaves you having to act like a draw is a war crime. Sad times

I find most of the posters on here have wonderful senses of humour. I chuckle regularly!

I don't mind him replying to threads - because his replies usually get drowned by the large majority of realistic replies.

What really gets on my tits though is the barrage of antagonistic threads he starts, seemingly only ever with the aim of negatively criticising what he happens not to like and seemingly never praising any of the many good things about the club.

Agree. I put him on ignore yesterday.

Apparently so ‘passionate’ he can’t see that he is just a pain in the *rse. Or maybe he can and that’s the point?

I haven't used the Ignore button, In the main i get through a couple of sentences at the most and then I abandon that particular posters post.

I actually think the Ignore button Is a bit childish, Its almost like one adult saying to another, ''I'm not talking to you''.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

I personally would like to apologise if anyone here has taken offence when I give a bit back to the poster I believe we are talking about. Obviously, I am assuming this thread isn't about me and my replies. Many have said that I shouldn't engage but it annoys me when I see people getting belittled for having a different viewpoint. Experiences in my past just makes this an issue for me. A lot of the time we have a difference of opinion, maybe we have a different opinion to everyone else. Doesn't make it any less valid. I am probably getting more annoyed than the actual people who sometimes it is directed at. I just believe if you speak to people like crap, then you can't cry when you get it back. Everyone can have an opinion; it's just the way you deliver it, I guess. Anyway. if at any point someone has seen my back and forth and thought 'oh sh!t not this again' I want to apologise if I have contributed to your enjoyment of this amazing message board being diminished. I know the ignore button is there, but it goes against what I believe in (although tempting) I guess I need to stop getting annoyed for other people

Hey.

I have a cunning plan, master.

The next thread he starts designed to cause drama, lets all agree with him and suggest perhaps he should be in charge of the team and make all the decisions mainly because he is such a solid and depnedable type of guy.

That'll learn him !!!!!

Each person is of course entitled to act how they wish. Ignore any posts/conversations they don't want to engage in or use the ignore button, either way is fine. Personally, I just ignore any posts I don't want to engage in.

However, responding to posts, any posts, does encourage behaviour.

As Oscar Wilde said "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about". Don't feed the beast, as it were.

I've never had anybody on ignore, and I doubt I ever will. There is plenty of stuff posted by many posters that makes me roll my eyes, as I'm sure that many posts I submit do the same to others. I actually prefer the wide range of opinions found here, and it's not just this medium that these different views pertain to, it's the same in the ground, half the time the blokes in the seats next to ya have seen something completely at odds in a play(er) than what you've just thought went / is going on, it's normality in sports, we're all experts. I don't know if I possess a thicker skin then others, but Stainrods Elbow does not affect me in the same way I see it does others. Do I agree with his observations, sometimes, sometimes not, sometimes I think he's not living in my reality, but pissing me off so much that I can't scroll through the Board is not going to happen. As Kensal Riser said, it's only football.

The ignore button only really works for occasional posters, otherwise it creates gaps in threads where blocked people post, and makes it difficult to follow the context, particularly if people are quoting and engaging with this dickhead directly.

The best thing is to completely ignore every post and contribution, or wait until it gets itself banned. It's the engagement that is causing your frustration - just move on and share opinions with those that have earned the right to open discussion.

He/she/ whatever is a total narcissist and all round sad guy. I loved my time in the UK and miss the humour. Good natured banter, back and forth, jumpers for goal posts etc. This forum gives me the opportunity to experience that humour and of course keep up with the finest football team the world has ever seen. Diverse opinions and pov, backed up by reasonable arguments without getting nasty and abusing people is what keeps me coming back. We are lucky. Thank you Clive and thank you all for making it what it is. I’m all for free speech as well but there does need to be a line. Abusing, berating and name calling is not on and that poster surely must be near a ban situation. Like a turd in a swimming pool he spoils the fun for everyone

I think the ignore button is great as long as it's used sparingly. If I find myself constantly getting wound up by reading comments from someone, even if I don't reply, then onto the list they go and it actually makes the experience more pleasurable. The only annoying thing is that you can't view the entire thread if they happened to start it, although in some cases I guess that is a blessing.

I think I have 6-7 in total on there but pretty sure only 1 or 2 are actually still posting most are dead accounts from a decade ago. A lot of them never posted anything about QPR anyway but would be regulars in the political threads.

This really clever bloke said this to deflect he had recently been seen administering a kung fu kick to a man full onto his neck.

Think his clever retort made everyone think he was a nice chap, after all.

Try to be a littler kinder to others Stainrod. Life goes a lot more smoothly if you do....
