IWood is bigger, a little quicker and better in the air than Stephens but when he's on the ball he has the coordination of a new born giraffe and he makes me edgy.
As we all know there are some on here that will wait for hell to freeze over before they admit that Stephens is pretty decent at this level and is an ok squad player at Premier league level...hence why he was wanted by Bournemouth a few years back.
We miss his leadership and and calmness on the ball...thats not knocking THB who I think has really stepped up as a leader ...just a different sort of character. | | | |

You often find when Wood plays that the oppo don't press the ball when he has it, but they do when anyone else has it.
This is largely as his passing is a lot more erratic than the rest of the team.
With Stephens in the team, there is a better chance of beating the oppo press. | |

In the 2 league games in which we needed a win in one of them we have missed him, which I will admit, I would never have imagined once. On Saturday in the semi we didn't miss him and the guys did a tremendous job.
In the Tuesday evening games such as West Brom, Bristol City and last night we have looked less composed following a big match. I think it is natural and I am not knocking the players at all but unfortunately these matches came at the wrong time. Losing Stephens and then Flynn Downes at this time has not helped. | | | |

I am one who has criticised Stephens in the past, but I don't insult him and since January I think he has been well worth his place in the side and yes I think we missed him in the last two league games |  |

Stephen’s is a very good championship defender but he is slow and ponderous on the ball

Their equaliser and City's winner had a lot of similarities. Late in the game, ball breaks on edge/just outside area and we sit back and watch them shoot without closing down. Whether this is due to fatigue or organisation is open for debate.... | | | |
