| Cullen rumour on 21:21 - Jul 30 by KeithHaynes | He won’t get him ? Will he, moneys on cooper or Congreve. |
I'm not saying he would get him Keith but that wouldn't stop Russy asking Not sure why he would be so anxious to get Coops or Congrave

| Cullen rumour on 21:51 - Jul 30 by vetchonian | He did initially but soon came to realise his usefulness. Agree I m sure Fulton is in no rush for a reunion and the club recognises his usefulness to the club but that might not stop Russy with his arrogance wanting him. Whilst we might be glad to offload Congrave and Cooper why would Russ be so keen on either? Much has been made of Rustys handling of Congrave when he was here so why would he be wanting him now...or Coops |
Martin's on and off field ideology will be difficult for many players to accept, particularly those still at Leicester with Premier League egos. He will need a core of players who will understand and accept his methods quickly as the season kicks off in a week. Any ex players who join him from any of his previous clubs will fit into this bracket or they wouldn't go there.

Cooper's best period for the Swans was under Russ.
| Cullen rumour on 08:15 - Jul 31 with 3645 views | Dr_Winston | If I was a Leicester fan I'd be a bit concerned about Russy being so interested in signing players that he's worked with before. To me wanting to work with those who have experience of his "process" would suggest he intends to keep trying to do things the way he always has and therefore hasn't learned a damned thing. | |

He was used in two ways by Martin firstly as an advanced left midfielder initially to offer legs and movement off Piroe and later., still in the advance left midfield role but a little deeper to accommodate Mannings forward runs. In both cases cases Paterson and Ntcham were seen as the better options although at times defensively it proved an error having both on the pitch at the same time. So basically he offered legs, acted as a ball winner and movement but at times his touch let him down and a lack of real pace hindered the roles he was asked to play. There have been times playing alongside Eom where it has worked well but Cooper seemed reluctant to continue a forward movement within a move to go beyond the opposition back line he seemed to stop almost unwilling to loose the shape asked for in the midfield. He has scored when alongside Luke Cundle(still a championship player) latching onto a loose ball from Cundles driving run. He has his uses but as previously there seems to be better options in the squad, not good enough or not the right role with the players around him so he can fit in?

Cooper did win us an awful lot of free kicks when he played. He was very direct running at defenders. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I don't think he's good enough for the Championship, especially for a club aiming for top half/playoffs. Matos will have seen enough of him to make a judgement & it's about time he was moved on. Can't fault his commitment but he's not skilful enough & lacks pace. He's good at winning free kicks as has been mentioned though! I'd say League One is his level but not at a club like Leicester who expect to bounce straight back into the Championship.

Sad to here but his main issue seems to be the inability to close down players getting forward he knows how to get in-between protective passes but players like Rodon could press pasted him and have time to pick their pass before Cullen could catch them up allowing the opposition toget into position further forward and draw defensive players out of position, cannot see that as being acceptable to Matos, but then again Cullen's movement and finish was beneficial at times , Matos looking for players who can do both?

For me he isn't either quick enough or strong enough to play up front in the Championship. A good pro and overall I'd say it is a good sign that Matos wants a bit more than Cullen offers. Good luck to Liam.

He’s more likely to produce something without him than with him.

that is about the best way to put it. Cullen is an instinctive finisher but, if we are serious about moving forward, we need something different. Good luck Liam

So, the need for the manager to produce something then? Despite some on here Culls had many fans, if things dont go well, therell be some unhappy fans about, Culls move could prove a mistake. Thats all Im saying on the matter,

| Cullen rumour on 17:08 - Aug 1 with 1457 views | swancity | He’s served our club well. Always given 100%. And made a good contribution. An intelligent footballer with a good understanding what was required but not dynamic in the sense that he lacks real pace. He can and does make things happen with his quick thinking football brain and in a number 10 role at Leicester he will do well at Leicester in League One with Russell Martin who he gets on well with. Whilst doing well in general at Swansea I’m not sure if he’s good enough to help get is promoted as that’s our aim ultimately and what we are gearing up to. | |

I'd agree, what if at the end of the window we get the right offer we cannot refuse for Vip? Bobby Wales out on loan leaves us with just Idah. Yes if we are ambitious Cullen does lack an edge but he was a good club man and a useful sub. I always remember similar things being said about another good club man Wyndham Evans ....but he even appeared in the First Division when needed.
