With all the talk of new strikers etc, I thought of Broja, who left us 4 years ago at the end of the 2021/22 season.
Since then his record reads
Chelsea 25 Games & 2 Goals (Premier League)
Fulham 8 Games 0 Goals (Premier League)
Everton 10 games 0 Goals (Premier League)
Burnley 24 games 1 Goals (Premier League)
Total 67 league games & 3 goals
In England his record including us is 100 League games and 9 goals, I suspect that there are some on here who would have him back in an instant |  |

Quite possibly the lowest pain threshold/resilience in football that I’ve seen in recent years.
I’d be amazed if any team in the Championship takes him on.

To coin one of your phrases, he contributed in the 2021/22 season by scoring important goals which ultimately kept us up that season.
He has been beset by injuries ever since.
A real shame.
He had the talent to go a really long way in the game.

The idea was to point out how his career has nosedived, Burnley overpaid badly last summer, on transfrmarkt he was valued about £11m and they paid almost double.
Now he is worth about £5 million.
Last season for Burnley he was mainly fit, he started just 8 games, came on as a sub in another 16 and was an unused sub for another 5, he is unavailable as injured in 7 other games. and not in the squad in the remaining 2 games.
So he was fit most of last season just not very good.
You are right for about 2 months he was good for us, didn't want to know at the end

Nick you are like a broken record. On another thread you were harping on about it’s not all about stats. Since then , you have 3 times used the very same stats.
As for Broja he’s not the same player after a couple bad injuries. Of those 100 games how many were a last minute sub to close out the game? You know like you used to say Shane long did.
It took Adam Armstrong btw, 3 whole seasons in the premiership to replace Brojas goals . I’m sure you remember telling everyone how easily those goals would be covered when Broja left.

Dont take it personally, it is all about debate, if i was right about everything in football, I wouldn't be writing on here.
When I question a player, its about the player himself, not about whether Adam Armstrong scored more or less.
For the record post Southampton 9 of his sub appearances were in the last 10 minutes and I think of those 4 were 1 minute. | |
