No they depart from another point in Portsmouth at 9.15 and then Winchester at 10.15, so the arrivals will be staggered, the bulk will be from Fratton and Lakeside, Winchester will be a lot less

Ah ok, but I guess I mean are the bulk from Fratton all.leaving at the same time? Last season some left at 7:30, some at 8:00, some at 8:30 etc but seems.like those from Fratton Park (and the same will happen for.us at St Mary's) all leave at the later time of 8:55, at the same time, so all fans arrive ready to leave at the same time.

| Portsmouth Fans Get Instructions For Bubble Trip To Southampton on 02:41 - Oct 1 with 739 views | 1ASIN12 | We will have 3 different pick up paces or will they make us all go from Sy Mary’s again ? Also last season the indications were we would also have different locations but when it came down to it it was just one , we never did get the reason behind it ? | |

I didnt get a real explanation myself other than there was a demand for some coaches from Winchester for those Pompey fans living in London. The Lakeside departure point is on the edge of Pompey near Cosham, I think they split it because there is more parking there

I fear it is necessary, however I am staggered at quite how many police are involved in this.

It really isn't necessary, in fact the police themselves have now said it's at the club's request "‘The football club have decided on the managed travel approach’ Jones added: ‘The key thing for me to reiterate is that this is very much owned by Southampton football club, it is their event, it’s for them to make sure that the people coming to the game - and leaving - are safe. ‘With the coaches, it’s called a managed travel approach within football, which is very much the decision of the football club. Clearly the police give advice to the club, but the football club have decided that the managed travel approach is what they want to adapt." https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/s

Reading the article it said ‘The police have had to do a security risk assessment of what they think might happen, based on intelligence which comes into the police force and based on the history between the two clubs. ‘There’s a whole load of other bits of information which the police intel unit feeds into the football unit to be able to work out the best way to keep the game - and everyone attending - safe. ‘At the moment, the risk is at a point where between these two clubs it still needs that level of intervention. Ultimately, the game and the security arrangements are down to the club themselves and the police are supporting and advising." ‘Before last season, the previous time the two clubs met was in 2019 and it wasn’t a happy experience at Fratton Park. There were a number of arrests, a number of serious injuries, there was large-scale public disorder on the streets in Portsmouth in very close proximity to the club. ‘What we don’t want - and what we can’t have - is that happening again. I don’t want any parent to be concerned about taking their child to a match just because of who they are playing." So the article confirms that it is the Police who have assessed the risk and advised the clubs that the bubble is still necessary and both clubs are following that advice

Arriving by ten is still far too early, should be an hour before KO really. Bet we don't get multiple pick up points as the club will want to earn money off people from food and hot drinks. I still think calling 2019 'large scale disorder' is a huge exaggeration too. It really wasn't that bad especially considering it was a night game. Will get similar scenes across the country most weekends

Sorry but it's really not necessary at all. Plenty of other big derbies go ahead without travel restrictions on fans going to the game.

Do police horses get punched most weekends?

You can't characterise the entire evening on that one incident. I certainly wouldn't say that some moron punching a horse means the game saw 'large scale disorder'. Plus that's kind of irrelevant to the bubble as that could still happen with it in place.
