Clapping 20:03 - May 7 with 3767 views | this_charming_man | Who still does it? It’s pure virtue signaling now. Some coont in our street has started singing with a full on amp and mic. He got a few claps 3 weeks ago and is at it again now FFS

Clapping on 21:14 - May 7 with 1455 views | Buggalugs | My entire street does it and it’s really nice to be honest....sometimes I go right out to the end of my drive, sometimes I just stand in my doorway. Several houses have got bunting up as well now and I’ve done my bit for the community spirit by attaching the massive Union flag I nicked from the Hilton hotel in Chilworth about 25 years ago to the front of ours. We’re having a bbq in our front garden tomorrow and have invited our elderly neighbours to join us from the safe distance of their gardens. I wouldn’t normally participate in this type of forced socialising, but feel it’s important to make an effort to commemorate VE day.

I did it the first week and it was good, second week TCM junior wanted to so I did too, since then it seems like everyone is trying to out do each other. The a banging of saucepans, drums, the prick down the road singing on his microphone, all recorded and shared on Facebook and the same being done by dozens of people. It’s become an exercise in virtue signaling, think VE Day is slightly different as it’s a big anniversary.

My street is a bit more mature in age, so there’s no one-upmanship or coonts filming the proceedings. It’s nice to have a bit of community spirit in this day and age of selfish miserable pricks.

Totally agree on both accounts. There are still many people in my road that still come out and show their appreciation which is really good, but the numbers have noticeably dropped from a few weeks ago which is disappointing but each to their own. For tomorrows VE day celebrations I'll be putting up my white ensign, which I acquired whilst serving in the Royal Navy many years ago and we will be having a few drinks with our neighbours, on our own drives obviously, followed by a BBQ. Its a great shame that many events have had to be cancelled nationwide as this is a very significant anniversary that should be recognised but on the flip side it has brought out the best in local community spirit.

Judging and labelling people solely by how they vote is just about as pathetic and sad as it gets. There’s a few on here now and it’s proper weird.

Personally I think anyone who pins their colours to one political party where everything they do is great and anything the other party do abhorrent is weird.

Clapping on 22:26 - May 7 with 1326 views | cocklebreath | My street is planning a party in our front gardens/drives, it’s on a main road into town, it’s a stupid idea and I don’t want to sing Vera lynn songs. I’ll raise a glass to the war heroes in my back garden.

Indeed. I also get the impression that some of the freaks on here are so twisted by their political leanings, that if their kid was drowning in a river and a good samaritan passer-by jumped in, hauled them out and resuscitated them, they’d still call them a Tory cvnt.

Anyone who has to work for a living is “working class” in my mind. As for “elite” have you really not got anything better to do on a glorious Bank Holiday than to throw around more silly, snide comments?
