Wembley Variant 09:57 - Jul 18 with 1303 viewsSaintNick

From the people I know who went to the Semi and final of the Euros at Wembley a big proportion have contracted Covid 19 as did a large number of Scotsmen who came down, but could this be due more to the close proximity of people away from the ground and on public transport than the ground

It’s not a Wembley variant it’s the delta and it’s exactly what you said, people mixing. The government have decided to let it rip to get us past the peak before schools go back and autumn arrives. Time to live with it and fook self isolating, that’s not gonna happen anymore. I can’t understand why people haven’t deleted the app.

The title Wembley Variant is being widely used as a jocular term not a official new variant

Don’t know where I caught it.

Could have been on an underground train, or more likely in the ground.

I watched the highlights of the Germany game last night. Official attendance was 42,000. Am sure there were nearer 70,000 there. Club Wembley was the only area that looked less than 90% full.

As for the semi-final and final, officially 65,000 but pretty much full houses at both of them. Only empty seats at the final were in the Italy end.

All three games had absolutely brilliant atmospheres. But obviously this comes at a cost.

Poll: Would you take going down to League 1 if it meant new owners coming in?

Of the 6 of us that went to those 3 games, one has a bad cold, rest are fine. I agree, easy looked at least 20,000+who jibbed their way in all games for nothing, even the stewards were taking bungs.
Managed to do all 6 England games +Italy/Spain for 752sovs, which wasn't bad but should have just rocked up and skipped in for nothing, like many others.

I had never realised before that “jibbing” at Wembley was so easy.

Creating further variants which could be resistant to vaccines, happy days for the pharma industry I suppose.

What do you suggest, lockdown forever? We’re weeks ahead of Europe with this variant.
