Could do worse than Caballero.

The utterly abysmal Dixon and Speedie apart, we seem to have done fairly well with old (and existing) Chelsea players over the years.

That is the new signing.
Who needs to blow £15/20m on Johnstone when we have Big Willy??

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

Yes, big Willy is the future. He's only 40 so we should get at least another 5 years out of him and even then he'll still probably be better than McCarthy.

Was there not someone out there younger who could have done the job?
I can see a relegation scrap developing for the rest of the season.

The club probably found itself in a strong negotiating position with big Willy because of his age and the fact that no other club wanted him, not even AFC Wimbledon, where he was doing his fitness training. Goalkeepers under 40 would probably have asked for higher wages.

But, the good thing is, he can't possibly be any worse than McCarthy.

If a keeper is out of work at a young age I think it's fair to assume he's pretty crap....

The only decent ones you will find are old and are out of work due to age.

Cabellero has played for Chelsea and Man City so has played at a far higher level than our keepers. I can't see we could have done much better. The old 'emergency keeper' rule doesn't seem to exist anymore which is why we had to get an out of contract keeper rather than say try to get Tom Heaton who is currently No. 3 at Man U.

Although L have been joking about his age, I agree that he could well be a better goalkeeper than our current one.
