Got some mates who go there twice a year and love it.
Over the years they've done and seen everything, but on my only trip there (4 nights), we did the following:
Blue and Green Caves
A couple of islands - including seeing a shipwreck en route
some waterfalls
Walking tour of the town - sounds boring but was really enjoyable and interesting
Some restaurants and bars
From memory, beer was about £1.50 to £2 for half a litre depending on the bar
Try and get to a game if one is on whilst you are there
Wear your Ivan Katalinic keeper's top :-)

The whole of coastal Croatia is great.
And, I agree, get out onto the water if you can. The scenery around the islands is spectacular. The weather should still be great at this time at year too - and the water warm. |  |

City with plenty of history and old buildings! Climb to the top of the tower for great views and some good restaurants along the harbour area
I've got an idea (I sometimes get confused with Dubrovnik) there's a decent museum which is scary in as much as it brings home the horrors of the war back in the early 90's and very "real" if that makes sense for those of us that haven't seen troubles at the front line
I also remember beer being cheap but it was about 4 or 5 years ago when we went

Cheers for the tips, will hopefully do some cultural things rather than spend 3 days in a dingy bar. Weather looks terrible though 3 days of thunderstorms. Will take buddy smugglers just in case. | |

Agree with everything all have said, great city and the surrounding islands well worth a visit and easy to get to on the numerous ferries
A great viewing place whilst there is Marjan Hill, which you can walk to from the city, although the steps are steep and go on for a fair way, but we’ll worth it, their is a cafe there if you get a thirst on going up the hill

They're an attractive bunch the Croats (the footballers don't do them justice).
