Is he coming back into our squad next month?

Think it’s a sign of how grim things are that we probably need him now.

We may be changing places with Burnley soon. They look certain to be promoted to the Premier League. In which case, Tella will be hoping he can stay with them.

Things are not as grim as they were two months ago when we were without KWP, Lavia and Bella Kotchap all out injured.

Now is time for some optimism, we have those three back in action plus the imminent return of Livramento.

Sign a striker in January and we will be fine, it is time now to get behind the team, create a positive feeling around the club and pull it out of trouble

Bloody hell that's grim.
It's barely Christmas, and you already think we're down. We win a couple of games and we are mid table. We have a new manager, and several key players back from injury.
I don't think now is the time for doom and gloom.

You are deluding himself if you think we will sign a decent striker in January.

Nothing ever happens in the January window apart from a few loan deals.

At best, we will manage to recall Tella from Burnley. And even that would be far from a guaranteed good thing.

Why is it delusionary, it might well be a loan deal, but it will fill a gap, in the past few years we havent done much in January because we didn't need to as we were stuck firmly in mid table and we didn't need to change the strategy and bring someone in.

In 2019 we signed Guido Carrillo for £19 million, OK it didn't work out although we did stay up and that was what mattered.

In 2018 we signed Manolo Gabbiadini and in 2017 Charlie Austin.

Following a football club should be about having hope, that is what keeps you going, once you have lost that hope what is the point in bothering .

Yes perhaps we won't sign anyone in January, but I will moan about that after it has happened and not before.

We had a decent summer transfer window aside from not landing a striker, although perhaps Mara or Adam Armstrong could come good if the playing style changes

If anything the playing style will go more direct under Jones.

Not necessarily a bad thing.

Won’t suit Mara though; the fella can’t head a ball.

Might as well loan him out in January.

I’d like to see us try and get the Dutch striker who was at Burnley last season and scored twice against the Argies if we are going to go more direct.

Mara is adapting, you forget the sublime pass for our equaliser against Leeds and also his disallowed goal against Leicester, both of which showed what he can do.

He can score with his head, he did do for Bordeaux where he had goals with both feet as well.

Going more direct doesnt just mean slinging the ball down the middle to chase, it means less about passing the ball around the back line and midfield and getting it forward quicker to feet.

Even if we went Ian Brnafoot direct, that doesn't mean that Mara won't flourish, he might well see more of the ball playing off another striker.

Yes lets go for Weghorst who got 2 goals for Burnley in 19 games

And 2 goals against Argentina in less than 1 game.

Tella has not featured in the last 2 Burnley games, would that be because he's coming back to us in January.
Do we have an option of bringing Will Smallbone back from Stoke in January, he's done really well for them & we are short of midfield players that are prepared to play a forward pass.
He deserves a chance at St Mary's.

Nick Im interested to know what your hope is? Saints have left me feeling very flat this season and i cant see any light at the end of the tunnel, just a relegation train.

How have we had a "decent" summer when the team has regressed even further despite spending money. Give me Fraser in goal, Romeu in the middle any day and even long running around like a headless chicken.

Bazunu needs hooking, he has been pretty poor and always has a mistake in him. If Mccarthy was making these mistakes week in week out you would be battering him.

I would wager Jones dosent make it to the end of the season.
