When was the top flight League match played when we had already been relegated? on 15:45 - May 17 with 3139 views | Wints76 | Was thinking this earlier. Don't think it has happened. I was at Forest in 09 when we had already been relegated from the Championship, but our 2 previous top flight relegations have been on the last day

There was 2 fvcking games left . As was mentioned a couple of weeks ago this team is the worst Saints team in top flight history.

When Saints got relegated in 2005 it was a worse team than the one that has played this season. That will be proved by the relative transfer fees of the players we sold back then and this summer. Of note back in 2005 only Peter Crouch at £7 million raised any real cash, all the others that left that summer were dead wood like Kevin Phillips, Anders Svensson, Paul Telfer, Mikel Nilsson, Olivier Bernard, Fabrice Fernandes etc plus Niemmi & Nigel Quashie in the January, If you compare that with the players that will leave this summer, all for big clubs, then overall the 2005 relegated side was far worse than this one in terms of the quality. This side has gone down due to poor management not a lack of quality

Utter rubbish. We got 32 points that season. More than we will get this season. There is no doubt this team is our worst ever in the top flight.

Give it a rest its a crap team. There is no debate. Its lost 36 out of the last 47 prem games and over the last 4 seasons has conceded nearly 300 goals in the league. Thats not the hallmarks of an ok team. If you still think you are right listen to JWP's interview after the latest loss.

Beattie got sold half way through the season. The turning point was prutton getting sent off. 2004-5 and 2022/23 GK Nemi RB KWP LB Le Saux CB Lundekvam CB Bednerek MF Prutton MF Redknapp MF Lavia MF Charlie FW Beattie /Phillips FW Crouch 7-4 to 2005

The 2005 side was universally mediocre. This season's team had the quality to survive comfortably if they'd fixed the problem in goal & up front and appointed a half-decent replacement for RH.

Some included on reputation rather than 2004-5 performances. Le Saux, Lundekvam, Prutton, Redknapp were all past their best by then. (Prutton never was very good.) None of them played another top level match after that season.

When was the top flight League match played when we had already been relegated? on 16:25 - May 18 with 2725 views | SonicBoom | Nick you keep saying this team could have been comfortably safe. The only real proof of anything is the table. We were not even close to being comfortably safe and we have been relegated. The managerial situation didn't help but the players can't blame that. Good teams that underachieve still stay up almost despite their managers because they have decent players. Where are we decent? Up front we couldn't hit a barn door - or even make a chance to shoot at said barn door. In midfield we were ponderous and lacked forward drive and at the back we were uncommitted and disorganised and the keeper was consistently poor. 3 managers couldn't get a tune out of them. As I said the only evidence we have is where we are in the league. Just saying they are actually a better team doesn't make it true.

The Managerial situation this season has been catastrophic. Its bound to have had an affect on the players. Its wasn't long ago people were raving about Salisu. Bella-Kotchap is a German International and looked good at the start. Karl Walker -Peters is a good player and will surely be picked up by another Premiership Club. Perraud is a good player having played for France U17-U20 level but was playing one week and then dropped the other. Apart from the goalkeeper, thats our Defence. JWP will leave us for another Premier Club and should never been given the Captains armband. The other midfielders have been playing musical chairs all season. Scoring goals has been a massive problem,so we buy Onuachu and Sulemana and mess them about. I would have liked to have seen Che and Onuachu play more together, but that's confined probably to history now. You have to ask why so many players have underperformed this season.
