There have been many times he could have moved on and didn't. I know JWP has his detractors on here and I am not saying there are not times when I have found him frustrating and I appreciate he has been paid well for his services but he has stuck with us and scored some fabulous goals. I don't know why in this day and age we cannot celebrate the players that have served us well like we used to instead of looking to do them down. If this is your final match JWP, thank you for the memories and I sincerely wish you well wherever you go. As far as I am concerned you will always deserve a warm welcome back to St Marys.

But that was basically his testimonial like substitution, allowing everyone at St Mary's (which did include a few scousers I saw even applauding him) to give him the respect he deserves for his many years here at St Mary’s! As even if you don’t rate him, and are one of his critics, like I-would, even they can’t deny that he’s been a great player for the team and should have every saints respects. He might not be a natural born leader but was the only player left in the changing rooms that cared about the club and would die in a ditch to defend the club , we don’t have many of those left in the changing room. If he goes which I am pretty sure he is off to London then the money raised will go some way to fill the gap in lost revenue for relegation and might just keep some of the jobs that are needed to keep the club running for another year. Don’t expect the funds to be used to buy new players the debt we have needs to be funded and we don’t have that many players to sell to fill big lumps of the debt.
