The Ross Stewart Enigma 22:04 - Dec 15 with 4586 views | Apex | We need Ross Stewart now to have a real chance of promotion, we are told how great this player is and how he will be a real asset when he is match fit, now we are told he can't play through an ankle injury until the January window, does anyone else smell a rat. You can call me a old cynic but I was once at one of evening meetings when the board invited questions from the fans, many hands were raised but the only ones picked belonged to people who were at the previous secret rehearsal. I recall one brave man got fed up of being ignored and stood up and shouted, "if anyone want's Mane tell them fifty million or get stuffed" the crowd cheered and the board looked very uncomfortable. It would not surprize me one bit if he is sold BEFORE the January window to avoid a bidding war, you know like the Van Dyke farce, come to think of it maybe he is already a an earmarked Liverpool player. I wish somebody would tell the board that you can't fool all the all of the time. Apex
The Ross Stewart Enigma on 22:40 - Dec 15 with 4524 views | kingslandstand1 | Who would put a serious bid in for someone hasn't played at all bar a couple of small cameo's, and why would we want to sell when Che is out of contract in the summer. If anything it could be he who goes in January
The Ross Stewart Enigma on 07:13 - Dec 16 with 4373 views | 1ASIN12 | Fvck me I’ve heard it all now . The club faking Ross Stewart’s injury because they are planning to cash in on him . That has got to be one of the funniest things I’ve ever read on here . I’ll can think of many things to call you but an old cynic would’nt be in the top 20. [Post edited 16 Dec 2023 8:31]

It was the Sadio Mane bit that made me raise my eyebrows, Mane was not exactly great in his two seasons at the club aside from his scoring spree at the end of each season. But he would only have been at the club for just one fans question forum, at the end of his first season and at that time no one was really chasing him with his market value around £15 million,. He went on 1st July 2016 for £36 million, so wasn't around for a second fans forum, im not sure this story has any substance, although being bet part of a decade ago it is easy for the memory to play tricks.

Stewart was a panic buy in an attempt to appease the fans, just like the Onuacho & Carillo signings were. And Stewart will probably not play any more games for us than either of those two did.
The Ross Stewart Enigma on 18:22 - Dec 16 with 4105 views | Apex | Hi guys, will Ross Stewart be sold to one of the big clubs, only time will tell, if he is not sold and I'm am wrong so be it, but if I'm right will the person who had a such a low opinion of me please eat a large piece of humble pie. Mane was played as an attacking midfielder by Saints and he was instructed to drop back (too much) to support the midfield and defence , and we often saw him in our box defending a corner. Liverpool did not place as much reliance on previous form as you when they bought him, they saw his great pace and playing skills and played up front as a striker and as the Americans say "the boy done good". Walker Peters should be played every match as Mane did for Liverpool but he will have to wait until he is sold. Apex

Since when has the expression ‘the boy done good’ been an Americanism ? Why would a big club buy Ross Stewart ? Apologies but I have no idea what you are talking about re KWP.

It really doesn't matter. Every penny of his cost has been pissed up the wall by people who thought it good business to buy a pig in a poke. We could have bought somebody fit and able but didn't. It looked daft then and even more so now but that ship has sailed - he is a write-off. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Ross Stewart’s gamble has already paid off as we sit joint 3rd. Liverpool are probably thinking sign Ross and guarantee champions league next season

And exactly what has Ross Stewart done to help us be in fourth position? It certainly has not been to score the eight goals that would have placed us above Leeds.
The Ross Stewart Enigma on 20:06 - Dec 16 with 3975 views | PatfromPoole | If we get him back fully fit in February (a big if) he should score the goals to get us in the play-offs. Top 2 is too far off. And I don’t have high hopes for the play-offs.

I'ii always remember his goalscoring at the end of the 77/78 season. Ultimately, that was what got us promoted. He looked like he 'd have a great career ahead of him in the top flight. Then it fizzled out and he was sold to Gillingham the following season. I can only guess that McMenemy felt he wasn't good enough to make the step up to a higher level. I think all Saints' fans who saw him play have good memories of him. Of course, he is also a Poole Town legend.

The Ross Stewart Enigma on 11:02 - Dec 17 with 3511 views | Apex | Hi Guys, please allow me to clarify a few of my comments, I have heard on tv the expression spoken "The boy done good" it was said by Paul McCarthy whilst appearing on an American chat show, and on an other occasion it was said by another American and I assumed it was a showbiz expression. It it always a gamble when you buy players whether they have good form or not, what the top club specialist look for is - potential, they can sometimes take an ok player and turn his into top class player with good motivation and playing him in the best position. My suggestion was to play Walker Peters as a winger/striker just as Liverpool played Mane in a high press and a 442 formation , it would work even better had we not sold KWP, he wold love loved all the penalties we would have got. Yes I agree Saints have bought a few players who were not up to the required standard but I'm still suspicious that Ross Stewart would not be available until January, still not to worry we still have Che Adams, how many goals has he scored. KWP was excellent yesterday though I still don’t think he should be playing at LB. Sign of a good player though. Versatile.

So, next season, he'll be 28 and he'll still have only scored 10 goals in the Championship. I don't think we need to worry about a bidding war, Apex.
