I left Hospital yesterday.
While there I was summoned to an NHS Disciplinary Hearing and charged with riding my bike without lights.
I confessed ,but the punishment handed out was to be docked one kidney, (Sadly that bit true)
I appealed on the grounds that when pulled over, it had not even been dark. Appeal dismissed.
As I wished the remaining hostages , err patients, a cheery farewell I left them a top tip..
If steak and kidney pie is on their dinner menu tomorrow, FFS don't choose it.

I think i gotta row back to 66 years .the game was definitely Reading because Dad hailed from there I reckon it was late 59/60.
We won , Dad not happy

Aha....that looks like an Easter game maybe...played the twice in 3 days (common back then)

Got it now..gave in to Google....the games were in April '60 .we won 1-0 at the game I saw (O'Brien) and lost 2-0 at their mud heap.

The first match atThe Dell my dad took me to was v Plymouth on Good Friday in 1977. It kicked off at 11.30am because the next match was the following day at 3pm followed by bank holiday Monday match two days later - that’s 3 matches in 4 days if my memory is correct! | | | |

He was the shortest Saints goalkeeper I can recall, and he wasn't very good.
His height is listed as 5 ft 9 in. on Wikipedia, but I think he was even shorter than that.
Talking of proportionality, there were more pounds to the inch with Godfrey than most other players, so what he couldn't cover with height he made up for with width. Even if his namesake, the motorcyclist Tony Godfrey, was no taller, he was certainly thinner.
