Perhaps it is time to bite the bullet, let those “big clubs” who want to be a part of a super league go and let the rest of us carry on enjoying our football.

You obviously haven't read the details: Southampton are one of the big clubs who will be in the breakaway.

Agreed. I would like Manure, Pool, City and Chelski to get together with other European 'super clubs' to form a European league and the rest of us can get on with a re invigorated domestic league.

Does that mean we can't get relegated?

Haven't read it all yet, but listening to Henry Winter this morning I'm inclined to agree that would you really want the Glazer Bros running the Premier League to fill their large pockets even more? Cos it seems that's the way it may go. And Nick's heading that Pool and Utd "Back" the project, I'm hearing that it is their proposal so it is bound to be in their interest

And Rick Parry (former Lpool chairman!) also backing it despite the opposition from those he is now supposed to represent

No, the only clubs publicly in favour of it so far are Liverpool and Man United. The Premier League are against it but the Football League are in favour of it as it means their clubs will get a lot more money.

It is being promoted by the chairman of the Football League, Rick Parry, but it needs 14 Premier League clubs to vote in favour of it and I can't see that happening as it would be like turkeys voting for Christmas.

If the plan is implemented, it would mean 5 teams will be relegated from the Premier League in the first season. I don't think Saints and the rest of the big 9 will be immune from that.

The plan initially gives a huge financial boost to Football League clubs whilst taking a lot of money away from Premier League clubs. This is why Rick Parry, the chairman of the EFL, is so keen on it.

Liverpool and Man United's ulterior motive though is to be able to negotiate their own deals with the TV companies and thus get a much bigger slice of the TV money, which is why the Premier League is dead set against it. In the long-term, it would mean that all of the other clubs would be worse off.

I don't really understand this to be honest. Why an earth would all PL clubs agree to the "top 6" having all the power? Why should they get more of a vote? The bits and pieces that are beneficial, come across as blackmail during the Covid pandemic? So the top clubs want a system that allows them total control over all the other clubs, so that no other clubs can ever get near them? That's rediculous isn't it? Why do they want no competition for the next 100 years. Surely this won't be agreed too.

So Leeds United for example, would be voted out of anything that makes them challenge the top teams. So we could never have a Leicester type miracle ever again?

It would be 9, not 6. and Saints would be one of the 9. But, ultimately it's all about just 2 clubs trying to get their hands on most of the TV money. One of the 9, West Ham, have already come out against it.

If, as Liverpool and Man United want, individual clubs, rather than the Premier League, negotiate TV deals, the big 2 would probably get more money than all of the other clubs put together. It would guarantee that they would dominate the league forever. What has probably prompted this move is the recent rise of Everton and Man City. Whilst the traditional big 2 can still lay claim to the majority of the world's TV fans, they want to head off the threat from rival clubs.

But even with Saints being one of the 9, why should these 9 clubs have any power over other clubs and how? So Forest come up for examplw and want to spend a lot of money to try to win the league. We can vote to stop them? I don't understand this at all. Seems a complete nonsense. They want a system where it's the same top 9 teams every year?

The 9 is a smokescreen. Although Football League clubs will benefit financially in the short-term, the plan is really only designed for the long-term benefit of 2 clubs: Liverpool and Man United.

So don't they know that no other team will vote for such a rediculous shift of power? Who an earth will give the whole football power to two clubs? Whole thing seems rediculous to me.

So it's pure blackmail? Liverpool and Manchester United ( the most hated clubs in the UK) will only help lower league clubs, if they agree to them having power for ever?

I just don't understand why the other clubs would ever agree to losing all their voting rights. And the arrogance of no surprise, Liverpool and Man U thinking that they should have all the control. Unless, I am not understanding, and it maybe I don't fully understand this, but this seems ludicrous. They are blackmailing other clubs with temporary salvation in return for ever lasting power. If that happened, it would surely be the end of football.

I’m not convinced the other clubs know anything about this, thus is the arrogance. City of all the clubs have no time for Liverpool and United and their attempts to screw them over the FFP and ban.

But out of the 9 clubs that will have special power voting rights they only need a 2/3 majority.

So all big decisions will only need 6 clubs to vote for it - I wonder who those 6 clubs will be ?

spot on they are trying to temp Everton, Saints and Everton by the promise of being in control, but it will actually really be with so called big 6.

Whilst making out they are helping out EFL clubs, the Big 6 have actually devised a plan that gives them even more money, makes the league less competitive and doing away with parachute payments could cripple relegated clubs

Seems that West Ham have already seen through the façade, and according to BBC news this morning 11 of premier league clubs already against proposals, hope Saints are either amongst those 11 or follow suit.

From an Everton forum...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reading from the journo who broke the story, Sam Wallace, that ahead of the shareholders vote of premier league clubs on Wednesday at least 13 are against it, each of the 20 clubs holding one share each and at least 14 needed to pass it.

All 72 EFL clubs unsurprisingly support it but with Liverpool and Man United apparently unwilling to walk away from the premier league it looks finished.

Of the seven clubs who aren't (as yet) thought to be opposed, 'the big six' and ourselves.

.... a quote from the article says

'(what) is not yet clear is how prepared the other four members of the so-called big six - Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City - would be to back the plan. There are also questions over Everton’s intentions - the club has ambitions of reaching the Champions League and would qualify for “special voting rights” under PBP owing to its longevity in the top flight'

Ultimately, when Premier League clubs start negotiating their own individual TV deals for their matches, the other 4 teams in the big six will learn the folly of their ways. Most TV companies and fans around the world will be happy just to pay to watch Liverpool and Man United matches.

Although, having just had a look at the latest social media figures, perhaps, I'm out of touch:

This whole thing stinks to high heaven, it's utterly disgraceful.

If City are involved in this, I will not renew my season tickets, and will never again pay for a ticket to watch us at the Etihad.

I'm not surprised at the two American owned clubs that instigated this, probably along with Arsenal, but if we are part of it, I'll be devastated, and absolutely furious about it.

Still stood in the Kippax

You'll be involved mush, and frankly if Saints were in City's position they'd be involved too.

Sadly the clubs don't give a running f*ck about real fans, about the history of the game, about the idea of them being cornerstones of the community.

They care about the overseas c*nts that are a cancer on the game, and making as much money as possible.
