I just hope that whatever happens it doesn't happen at the 11th hour and leave us short. You would think the club could control that as he is still under contract but .....

I just hope this gets sorted over the summer, or the rumours will continue all season. This would seriously disrupt the team next season. But West Ham or Spurs? Like Kingsland said in the other thread, he will go where he gets the most money.

I concur with Sonic not least as it matches a similar sentiment I have made in a separate thread of which there are numerous ones around Ings. If he is going, for heavens sake go and don't drag this out to the last day of the transfer window or worse still into the new season. As to who he goes to, I am really not bothered - West Ham, Spurs, Man City, Timbuktu..........

To be fair if there were an actual Ings transfer race you can be pretty sure he'd pull up halfway through with a hammy twang...

Everyone seems remarkably sanguine about the likely departure of Ings.

Leaving aside all the issues of how much he is worth, what we might get for him, or where he might be going, the prospect of us staring next season without him fills me with dread.

The second half of last season is still fresh in my memory, and we had enough gaps to fill and problems to deal with without having to replace Danny's goals too.

And it doesn't sound like the sort of money we might get for him will give us any chance of adequately replacing him.

Are there any proven premier league goalscorers in the frame as his replacement??

If the club's owners want to use the Danny Ings transfer money to help pay off the club's debts then it would make sense for them to sell Ings at the end of the transfer window so they avoid upsetting fans demanding that they spend it on players. Also, of course, they would avoid the negative impact it would have on season ticket sales. Most of our big player sales have been delayed until after the early bird season ticket sale period has ended.

Even van Dijk's sale was scheduled by Kat & Les for the end of the summer transfer window but Gao wouldn't part with the cash to buy the club if van Dijk was sold before he took over. Hence the unusual delay until the January window, which wily Old Les used to his advantage by pretending they didn't want to sell him.

Can't see any interest for Gao in using Ings money to pay off debts.

He's already struggling to sell the club for what he paid for it. Relegation, and the value of his shares tanks completely.

And what are the realistic odds of us staying up without a replacement for Danny? With £200m at stage, it would take bigger balls than mine to place that bet.
