So lucky to have been able to go to 5 England games in this tournament with Wiz and about a dozen other Saints fans. Brilliant experiences, all of them. Totally gutted we lost last night. It should have been our moment.

It was a terrific tournament. VAR used well and teams playing good football. And now the morons have gone and ruined it. The stories coming out of Wembley on Weds are absolutely disgusting. We don’t deserve a World Cup.

| England on 10:51 - Jul 13 with 1452 views | pjt50 | Ultimately the responsibility lies with the morons but the authorities didn't exactly cover themselves with glory. I'm sure we'll get the usual buck passing between the police, Wembley, the FA and UEFA but, particularly in a time of COVID & with the UK threat level still at “substantial”, it seems like a total shambles. Don't these people do a risk assessment? The Met urged ticketless fans not to turn up. Yeah, right. And how did that clown get on the pitch when there wasn't even a full crowd to be managed? | |

I’m not sure why we don’t deserve a World Cup due to the behaviour of a few hundred scumbags. The last World Cup was in Russia and the next one in Qatar, truly shocking human rights all over the show. This country is well placed to hold a World Cup, far more so than the vast majority of countries. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Few hundred scumbags ? 0ver 80 arrests and 20 police injured. Italians forced out of seats and journalists reporting watching people run away from a mob. The reports coming out are absolutely horrendous. In our national stadium during a lockdown ?

It's not the fault of the England team though or the law abiding decent fans. It is a minority of alcohol fueled thugs. Again, the idiots do it because they can. The pathetic policing on show as fans just stormed the stadium unchallenged, is exactly why they do it. Battons, water cannon, rubber bullets would stop them in their tracks and maintain order would it not? But the police just stand there, give up or become overwhelmed. And we know why. They so much as lay a finger on any of them, they risk their jobs and freedom. [Post edited 13 Jul 2021 18:53]

I admired the way VAR was used during the Euros. It was used exactly how it was meant to be used. Unfortunately, when the Premier League starts up again in a few weeks time, it's back to clueless, useless, corrupt, inept, wánky officials for us.

That was a massive highlight. Surely if after this the premier league all goes back to the usual atrocious circus then questions will be raised and something will have to be done about standards here.

Solent it wasn't hundreds it was thousands of scumbags. I arrived on Wembley Way around 3pm and it resembled a war zone 5 hours before ko, many pissed, throwing cans, bottles, lighting flares, fireworks, barely any Police presence, you could see it was going to be dangerous that early. Estimates were that they're were around 200,000 fans in the vicinity of the stadium, why weren't the Old Bill prepared? On to the checkpoints, no real checks, go on through to the turnstiles everone. ticket or not. Fans then breaking in disabled entrances, doubling up through turnstiles, general chaos really. The turnstiles at Wembley are so big, you can easy get two 6 foot 14 stone fellas through together, the secrets out now you don't need a ticket at Wembley, just tailgate someone else in. Simple The official attendance Sunday was 67k, Stevie Wonder could see they're weren't 23 tousand empty seats, guessing at least 10 thousand +got in free. The 3 group games you never saw the idiots,It started at the Germany game, escalated at the semi and went off the scale at the Final where they're were far more present than the official attendance figure. What can be done? In Russia 3 years ago, and other grounds abroard you couldn't get within about half a mile of the stadium without a ticket, Wembley is a different kettle of fish now with so much developement so close it's hard to put a proper cordon around the stadium. Maybe put 2 coppers and someone checking tickets on each of the 164 turnstiles may have helped stop many getting in free, but whoever's in charge of security will soon be looking for a new job, and lucky nobody died or was seriously injured, it could ave been another Hillsboro.

That's really interesting and horrifying to read from someone who was there. How awful that kids, families and decent fans had to feel unsafe amongst thugs. The police and the authorities really are poor. Not prepared, little police presence. But they are scared arn't they, of being accused of being too rough, so the police now avoid any agro rather than deal with it. Its a very dangerous future for decent people that the police let thugs run amock. [Post edited 13 Jul 2021 22:44]

The thing is all those scumbags won’t turn up at any future England matches as they aren’t proper fans, just bandwagon dickheads. The chances of us having another major final there in most of our lifetimes are pretty slim, it’ll just go back to the usual Wembley crowds surely and the idiots will just trash their local pub or town centres instead like they usually do.

Agree with a lot of this. It would never have happened in Moscow. It was like proper airport security to get into the ground over there. And you didn’t want to mess with their OB. My England travel buddy was getting attitude from the OB out there just because she was smoking near a bar at Red Square.

| England on 16:13 - Jul 14 with 1021 views | Wints76 | I would be amazed if we got a World Cup at the moment regardless. We have fantastic stadiums dotted around the country already so less of a need to build or renovate any more, therefore less kick backs for FIFA officials There were some pretty shocking scenes in London on Sunday. Would say that if people are kicking off 10 miles away from a stadium 6 hours before kick off, it is a society issue rather than.a football one. The people getting access to Wembley without tickets is an issue though Saints are still far more important to me than England. Have been to enough England games but would still rather Saints won the League Cup. However, after hearing stories from Pat and Wiz, and seeing their pics, I wish I could have experienced what they did, and that England had gone that one step further. | | | |

Around 450 Police were at the Final according to Talksport. Considering around that many are on duty for a Saints-Pompey match, it seems well light for a match with around 200,000 fans in the Wembley area. www.theguardian.com/society/2021/jul/14/ticketless-fans-actions-at-wembley-terrifying-say-disabled-fans But the Met Chief thought they done ok, so that's alright then.

I have been to the San Paolo in Naples. Extreme violence is just part of the match day customer experience. It was horrific what was out in the open. The record in England is fantastic, in all honesty

That mindless thugs attach themselves to football, both in the UK & elsewhere, should come as no surprise to anyone. What will scupper our chances of future tournaments is our pathetic attempt at crowd control in & around our national stadium — even with an attendance that should have been 70% of capacity. It's an embarrassment.
