Nice bit of investment from an American backer yesterday who has joined their board.

If only eh.........Parrish has shown that there are people out there willing to invest if you look for them!

Semmens said the other day that there are people out there willing to invest tomorrow, but they aren’t the right people. It is finding a good ‘un that is the problem and good luck to Palace if they have found one.

Presumably one of them was the American who's now investing nearly £90 million in Palace to be spent on the squad and a new stand, not going straight into an existing owner's personal bank account: a very different situation to Kat and Gao.

Poll: Who will win the Premier League this season?

Whilst bored in isolation with the Wembley variant, I watched the Palace series “Where Eagles Dare” on Amazon Prime.

Was a good watch.

The Palace owners (of whom Parish was one), all came across very well as genuine, passionate fans of their club.

They came into the club when it was on its knees and about to go out of existence, on the verge of League 1, but made some good decisions and got the club to the Prem, very nearly winning the FA Cup, and to where it is now.

Parish is no mug, and doesn’t strike me as the type who would let chancers come in and take over.

Palace got lucky with Parish.

Poll: Does anybody think Saints can get promoted this season?

So are we assume that John Textor looked at us too but decided to go to Palace instead (given that he has been looking to buy a football club)?

If only the club at the time had of applied the same logic to Gao buying in.....

Ready and waiting to mop up those European places......

Maybe he did, but isn't Gao wanting 250 million?

I've already answered that in this thread:

He probably wasn't considered the right person by our owners because he wanted the money to be spent on the club itself rather than going straight into the owners' personal bank accounts and that was not what happened with Kat and Gao so we can assume they'll want to pocket the money themselves rather than see it invested in the football club.

SOG: "Semmens said the other day that there are people out there willing to invest tomorrow, but they aren’t the right people. It is finding a good ‘un that is the problem and good luck to Palace if they have found one."

DD: "Presumably one of them was the American who's now investing nearly £90 million in Palace to be spent on the squad and a new stand, not going straight into an existing owner's personal bank account: a very different situation to Kat and Gao."

What's happened at Palace is that the existing owner, Parish, has given Textor a 20% share in the club in exchange for £87.5 million to be invested directly in the squad and stadium development. Parish wanted investment to take the football club to the next level; Kat & Gao want 'investment' to take their personal bank balances to the next level.

Lucky them. Selhurst Park is a tip though (nothing like as bad as the slum along the coast) and will eat up most of that cash.

What evidence do you have for that last sentence?

Steve Parish has publicly stated: "“We have been looking for the right investor for a while.....I’m delighted that search led us to John, who has invested significant sums, helping to facilitate the rejuvenation of the squad, bolster the balance sheet and enable the club to finalise the academy." The Guardian article that he's quoted in also says that some of the money will be spent on a new stand.

In our case, it's just my opinion based on what happened when Kat sold an 80% share to Gao. I'll be very happy to be proved wrong if it's different next time.

To be fair, halfof last season's squad were loanees or last year of contract. If people thi k our situation is dire, Palace is a wake up all. They need extra funds to invest in the squad.

If there are people ready to invest and Kat thinks they're not the right people who the f*** were they bearing in mind she thought Gao was the right person

It was Semmens who said it, not Kat. The situation was different when Gao bought his 80% share and the Chinese were actively looking to invest in football over here. As we know, the Chinese government have changed their policy now which has scuppered the original investment plans. At least there has been no fire sale and the money the club makes stays in the club. Things may not be great, but they could be worse.
