Southampton V Crystal Palace The Verdict on 11:21 - May 1 with 1477 views | Saintsforeverj | Spot on about the need for a leader. When we are are getting battered and at risk of losing the game, we need someone out there to take charge and get us a result. I have seen the goals again and can't believe how Saha was able to score that goal with Bednerak, Salisu and Perraud within tackling distance. And spot on about Broja. Ralph called him out. He isn't giving his all. Also, think you're right that there is sense that change is coming. We all wait in suspense about what will happen in the summer under the new owners. Perhaps big changes are coming and the players know it. Perhaps this could include Ralph?

Southampton V Crystal Palace The Verdict on 12:35 - May 1 with 1384 views | Sadoldgit | 100% agree that we need to revamp our coaching staff. A new GK, CB, quality no 10 and a striker who can put the ball in the net consistently should also be on the shopping list. Can’t see them getting rid of Ralph as he is a major part of the club building exercise, but he needs better materials to work with.
Southampton V Crystal Palace The Verdict on 18:10 - May 1 with 1223 views | Ron11 | 'Bringing on three players who are all badly out of form was a recipe for disaster'. Who made that decision? And then, having brought those players on, publicly criticised them after losing the game? Yes there were far too many attempts at a fancy intricate passing game which wasn't working. Who failed to tell the players to change it and go more direct, which it was crying out for, as Palace just sat back and waited for them make one pass too many and give the ball away? Who?

Ron, do you know what the players were instructed to do? Perhaps Ralph called them out because he was frustrated that they didn’t do what they were instructed to do? All of the 3 subs that came on are professional footballers who play for their countries. Adams was dreadful and no one wanted Long to start anyway so most of us expected the introduction of Broja and Armstrong to make a difference in a positive way. As it turned out Broja might just as well stayed on the bench and Armstrong took his two chances more poorly than Shane Long. International standard professional footballers. I could have defended better than Bednarek for that Zaha goal. The whole team has gone off the boil. Whether that is solely down to the manager or their lack of mental strength is arguable, but the performance of the players left a lot to be desired and they need to look at their own contributions to the game.

Maybe he just doesn’t need someone to influence him? Maybe he is a proper professional and goes out and delivers as he is paid to do? Just a thought. Oh, and he also missed a sitter. [Post edited 2 May 2022 23:31]

I’ll ask you a question here, are you happy with the football we are playing? Forget about whether players are trying or not, the football we have played or are playing (that 10 game run aside) is absolutely dull. Too scared to actually try and score from open play, more than happy to check back, retain possession rather than perhaps take a chance. Opposition quite happy to watch us pass it across their back line waiting for the misplaced pass which they invariably seize and charge up the field towards our goal. It’s absolutely boring. I won’t compare Ralph to Viera here but I’ll say Puel was relieved of his duties with similar accusations. How come Ralph gets excuse after excuse made for him and Puel didn’t? Why is it that we can’t compare ourselves to similar sized clubs? Every business compares itself to its competitors and looks at what they are doing and if there is a way to make better all round not only what you are doing but also what they are as well. Why is it Palace players were on it compared to our shysters? Last season it was injuries and fatigue. This season it’s the players not being professional…

Seems spot on. Very reflective of how most of us were feeling before, during and after the game on Saturday.
