Romeu's Girona team drew at Real Madrid today. I wonder if they would take Diallo in exchange for him? Probably not.

Personally Dirk I would have sold Diallo in the summer. He has had numerous opportunities and except for the odd flash of a good moment he has failed to deliver, develop or show any real intent and is easily brushed aside and you need someone who is strong and an engine in midfield. He may be skillful but I have yet to see it for any sustained period.

But, wasn't that because he was being dropped for Diallo? If he'd been our first choice defensive midfielder, he'd have been happy to stay and the club wouldn't have wanted to offload him. Players know when they are being eased out and so start to think about moving to another club. It was the same with Forster and Fonte.

Looks as though Gerona suffering as Saints they can't net simple chances. Romeu looking good in the colours of Catalan.

Should have kept Forster.
No disrespect to Bazunu who is only 20 so has time to improve, but I think Forster was a better Keeper.
Forster could have worked with Bazunu and passed on some of his experience.
Shilton was 38 when he left us.
This is what we seem to lack these days, young players coming through with the benefit of learning from more experienced players.
Lawrie was brilliant at this.

Romeu went because he was at the end of his contract and the club wanted to move forward, at the end of last season the club gave Diallo the chance to show if he could step up to the plate, truth is he is a good squad player.

Saints signed Romeo Lavia, if he hadn't got his hamstring injury we would not be talking about missing Romeu

I liked Romeu he was a good player for Saints and for the money we spent perhaps one of the best signings of recent times, but every player has a lifespan

As I said I liked Romeu but he seems to be appreciated far more now he has gone than he was when he was here.

We don't seem to moved forward much.
Romeu was the sort of player that protected players like JWP and I think that's noticeable now.
Bringing in so many young players is only as good as the environment they move into, they need to work with good experienced players

To be fair he was definately appreciated by myself especially when there was talk of PEH moving on. Glad we kept Romeu over Hjolberg but i do know what you mean in that players get jip, move on and then are heralded as being missed. I did think we should have kept him on tbh as he, JWP and Stu Armstrong were doing ok together. Bit of a mistake in my opinion not trying to get him to stay a bit longer, but fully understand why. Diallo sadly is not upto it (and i say this having waited sufficient time to say this). Brentford away case in example - rabbit / headlights

Classic case of not appreciating someone until their gone.
Romeu's contribution has been huge & other players have relied too much on Oriel, particularly Prowsy.
He's gone so we have to move on, probably to the Championship.
