5 Things About Everton 22:24 - Jan 15 with 1931 viewsSaintNick

1 I first went there to see Saints in October 1978, since then I must have seen us play there about 30 times, this was the first time I had seen us win, I missed the 3 victories

2. The Everton fans know how to protest. None of this “I’m giving in my season ticket” and whinging on social media for them seriou organised protest

3. Despite their anger they were still friendly and didn’t seem to direct their ire towards the Saints fans

4. I went to Birkenhead on Friday night for a beer with a mate of mine, the view of Liverpool from across the river at night is spectacular it looks like Manhattan

5. I had a drink with two members of Half Man Half Biscuit and one member of Frankie Goes To Hollywood, as well as countless Saints and Everton fans some of whom were related to me just to show my multi cultureism

Nick,
Its a bit weird to think that New Brighton had a League team many years ago and quite a big stadium.

My main take on Everton was how much the stand we were in reminded me of The Dell (but bigger, obviously). It's a fantastic old ground, must have been brilliant when Everton were doing well. Shame they can't preserve some of the stadium for posterity like they've done at Highbury. The other thing I noticed was how low the ceilings are on the buses. Are all scousers only 5'5"?

I bet it was Nasher, my missus had to unfriend him on Facebook.

Trust no one in a circus.

He went mental spouting all sorts of weird abusive sh!te so a lot of them unfriended him m. She’s from Port Sunlight so still has lots of friends up there. We don’t go so often now as both her parents have moved on. Been to prenton park saw ne castle hammer them in cup when they had that kid who could throw in about 50 yards. Her first football match though was Coventry v saints 1-0 Egil scored the winner.

When we go up to Liverpool, we often stay at the hotel next to the canal museum (Holiday In n Express?) in Ellesmere Port
Quite reasonable prices and free car park

I grew up in Ellesmere Port and often stay at the holiday inn when I go up. It’s a decent hotel albeit next to a right kip of a place.

Chester is a brilliant day/night out these days. Loads of pubs, bars and restaurants plus it’s very scenic if that’s your bag. It’s like Winchester but good.
