| 105 million for Rice!!! 20:43 - Jul 15 with 2017 views | Southamptonfan | Arsenal never spend ridiculous amounts until now. Then they spend 105 million on Rice. To put into perspective, Haaland was just over 50 million, Salah signed for 36million, VD for 75 million. West H.only just stayed up. Is Rice really worth that? Who would you rather have, 2 Haalands, 4 Salahs or one Rice? [Post edited 15 Jul 2023 20:44]

Declan's scored 15 (10 PL) goals for West Ham, and 3 for England. Absolute quality player, future England captain, will probably become a World class player, at 24 years of age £100m will look cheap in a few years time. Arsenal paying it on the drip won't lose out if they ever decide to sell.

Absolutely but in these obscene times it doesn’t seem as obscene as some other transfers as he is a class act

If they've watched his games this year, including the latest pre-season ones, you'd expect them to withdraw their offer altogether.

Man City interested or not didn't push up the price, 100m was West Hams price, which not negotiable, Arsenal knew if they didn't offer it, they wouldn't get him, simple as. West Ham didn't want to sell him, he just wanted to better himself. Maddison joined a top 8 club in Spurs for 40m, so anyone who thinks JWP who's very good at free kicks but not great at anything else, is anywhere near Maddison's level must be cuckoo. No top half PL side will be bidding so that will leave the likes of Palace Fulham WHU maybe offering around a realistic 25m. Nobody will bid 40m, pie in the sky.

Obviously I was wrong,15,10 in the Premier. Still doesn't sound that good over 200 games. Hes a good player but never worth 105 million, hes no Salah or De Bruyne. May I suggest you get a early night those late night screen visits cant be any good for your blood pressure.

Apology accepted, best not to make things up with your limited knowledge of football. Comparing Rice, to Salah and De Bruyne, is not comparing eggs with eggs, is it? Ones an World class attacking midfielder (who scored 3 more PL goals than Rice last season) who plays for the best team in Europe, ones a World class forward who plays for one of the best teams in England, and ones a defensive midfielder who pretty much carried a poor PL side for the last few seasons. Yous ok matching up the a,b,c's? https://punditfeed.com/lists/best-defensive-midfielders-world/ I mean you wouldn't compare useless Tall Paul with a useless Orsic for levels of uselessness would you? As ones an alleged winger whilst the others an alleged centre forward, both thieving a living who we unbelievably wasted 25m sovs on, and won't get a sov of that back. [Post edited 17 Jul 2023 17:42]

105 million for a defensive midfielder is ridiculous. What I was saying is Salah and De Bruyne are far better value for money. As for'useless Tall Paul with a useless Orsic' you're talking nonsense again. Tall Paul never had a chance here, sticking him up front on his own and expecting him to run about like some headless chicken, that's when he was picked that is.Last I heard some Bundesliga clubs were interested. Orsic is now playing for Trabzonspor one of the most decorated clubs in Turkey. Who are we planning to start with up front,Armstrong.......... [Post edited 17 Jul 2023 18:38]

Brighton's price is £100m apparently, which seems a bit heavy for someone who's played just over 40 PL games. (though I don't know much about him tbh) Chelsea need to tread carefully after being mugged into signing Cucurella for 60m who looks about as much use as our left backs.

The same Trabzonspor who finished 6th last season in a 4 horse race, 30 odd points behind behind the winners of a p1ss poor league, sure he'll bring back the glory days back after playing 5 seasons in the Croatian league (very high standard of course), tell them not to hold their breath though. Bundesliga, although not great, would still be a bridge or eight too far for Tall Paul, needs to set his sights on something more realistic, maybe Estonian, or something like that

Trabzonspor won that division the season before. The Super Lig is not a 'piss poor' league. I love how you form such a poor opinion of a player (Orsic) who played 6 minutes for us. Orsic played in the last world cup for Croatia and a third place playoff in which he scored the winning goal.Plus the assists in the other games. Tall Paul was messed about by two of the worst managers in Saints history. I didn't see enough of him to form a opinion one way or another,I would have given him a chance in the Championship. If Tall Paul doesn't make the grade anywhere else ,he will look back at his time at Saints and think what a waste of time.
