If Premier League clubs aren't already interested in him, they will be by January. Bournemouth perhaps? They must surely be aware of him. [Post edited 9 Aug 2023 19:28]

| Team For Norwich on 09:58 - Aug 10 with 2802 views | Monksway | Will definitely be a struggle. Better opposition. No JWP. Sky Sports on Friday night was a good shop window for Smallbone, Tella, Adams. I doubt we'll get the same on Saturday. Really difficult few weeks for RM, lots of flattery and cajoling to get a performance " Least you owe to the fans etc". Clearly fell on deaf ears against Gillingham on Tuesday with too many already wanting out. Not forgetting those with mysterious injuries. I'd play Stu Armstrong in midfield and Adam Armstrong up top as both appear to be happy to play for RM going forward. | | | |

He'd be perfect for Brighton wouldn't he. Surprised they didn't snap him up with the cash they got for Mac Allister. European football and with a Spanish speaking manager.

Maybe De Zerbi does speak some Spanish but he is Italian and has never worked in Spain.

I love the idea you think only people from Spain can speak more than a few words of the language. He's fluent in Spanish! "When asked about communicating with players, he said in May 2021: "Of course, I agree that this is a very important issue, but I hope that I will not have any problems. Besides Italian, I speak Spanish. When I speak on the pitch, the Brazilians, as a rule, understand me well." https://www.sussexlive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/de-zerbi-brighton-grah

As I said on another thread, if we win on Saturday, we will be joint top. I can think of worse situations to be in if I was a player.

The problem is not only players wanting to leave. It's the club needing to sell them. [Post edited 10 Aug 2023 11:15]

On the assumption they do not submit transfer requests and / or threaten to go on strike, the club does not need to sell Alcaraz, Smallbone or Tella. I think we should enjoy watching their career development and hope it helps get us back to the land of VAR and half and half scarves. On second thoughts……..

Wise words from Pat, lets just hold off for a moment, everyone is basing the situation on us selling players and not bringing anyone else in. This is going to be the most important thing, we knew we would lose players, its all about who we bring in, it is also not about judging these players by Premier League standards, but in what they can do for us this season.

How on earth do you know we don't need to sell them? Last season's spending spree has to be paid for somehow and we are now in a league with massively less revenue than the PL. Even Nick is saying our debts our North of £200m.

Edozie has played 25times and not registered an assist or a goal for saints yet . If Stu is fit he is a must.

Sorry but if Lavia does go, then as long as ABK sods off, we’ll be sorted. As that will not only be all that dept paid off, with probably a bit of money to spare, but also major reductions in player wages, which none of our new signings we’re hoping to make will come anywhere near close enough to matching. And even then that dept won’t just be done through player sales this summer, which is why we will still get a pretty decent chunk of that income to spend on signings, as just like RM said before the Wednesday game, we’ll be loosing more players (which all seems to be unfolding now) but we’d also be singing a few more as well

If we needed to sell them, why would we have rejected a bid from Sheffield United for Smallbone and from Burnley for Tella? Both of whom we are looking to extend contracts for. As you do with Nick, you are bringing out the optimistic side of me. I think it’s a certain flair you have.

We turned down bids for JWP and Lavia too.

We did. If Burnley come back and offer £20 million for Tella, we would probably sell. As Liverpool did when they sold Fabinho and Henderson to the Arabs. They probably didn’t have to, but money talks for pretty much everybody if the deal makes sense. Even PSG would have sold Mbappe to the Arabs.

I also said our debts are manageable and many are transfer fee debt and counterbalanced by money owed us. We could also have brought in the the best part of £150 million by Monday

| Team For Norwich on 17:52 - Aug 10 with 2343 views | Monksway | They won't be sold before Norwich but I think it will be difficult to keep them beyond the window particularly Smallbone and Che. I think £10 mill each will see them move with only a year left on their contracts. Tella will also want to go and his response after Sheffield Wed suggested he might be difficult if we don't accede to a move. I think £15 million will be preferred to an unhappy player. I'm more hopeful about keeping Alcaraz given his general attitude and length of contract. Like to think Smallvone and Tella would also stay but I'm not optimistic. The general exposure from playing in the EPL along with the salary makes it very attractive if you have a great good games against the Rich clubs. | | | |
