Sadly no. Whilst he is a true professional, his head will be all over the place.

If he has a bad/average game, there will be a small minority that will blame him and pointing to his move away.

Probably best for club and JWP that he doesn't play, which is shame as it could have been a final send off, which he deserves. All this because West Ham can't conduct them selves in a professional manner and p*ss players and clubs around.

I think he should be allowed to play, if this was given to the news as an agreed fee on Wednesday then surely West Ham were checking in with Ward-Prowse and his agent all last week and it didn’t seem to distract him then. Clearly a professional who at worst would see the game as a testimonial and best be aware deals can collapse at any time and that he may need to captain this team back up to the premier league this season.
