After the decision it was found its Senior Managers had awarded themselves huge bonuses. Good work Saints.

They are. However my wife and daughter are currently on a P & O cruise, and about 90% of the staff on that are from overseas. Not totally certain of how minimum wage regulations work for those people, if at all….

This is quite ‘standard’ Pat much akin to ships being ‘registered’ say in the Bahamas under the ‘Flag of Convenience’ laws which ensures favourable Tax Regimes are employed. Staffing ships is no different in that employing UK staff is simply more £’s to pay in salaries. [Post edited 7 Aug 2024 8:38]

P & O Cruises have historically employed a lot of Indian crew, especially from Goa. I remember having a chat with a waiter on one P & O cruise who was studying to be a Doctor. The money he made working 6 months per year with P & O allowed him to pay for his studies and sent some money back home for his family. He was very grateful for the opportunity as there was not the opportunity to make what he considered to be decent money back in his home land albeit the rates of pay was less than a UK or European counterpart would be paid. I guess the other option was for the guy to go and work in one of the many scam centres based in India and try to rip off lots of UK pensioners.
