Went to see Sleaford Mods last night at Brixton (my wife's choice) the sound was abysmal so we gave it about 40 minutes before bailing out. Shame as ive wanted to see them live for a while
Only left a gig early once before, a Congo Natty all nighter for the same reasons
What's the etiquette here? Stay till the end, go to the bar or get an earlier train? |  |

I went to see Placebo at Southampton Guildhall in the late 90's.
My favourite song of theirs was Teenage Angst, a fine tune.
When they opted to do it as a crappy slowed-up version, I walked out.
I very rarely tend to leave gigs early though. |  |

I tend to stay to the end of a gig, however one band who I have seen a few times and always left early was the Happy Mondays back in the 80's & early 90's.
They were awful live partly due to what had been consumed by them and secondly because on record they came to the fore because it was all remixed up and virtually impossible to re create in a live situation.
The third reason was because of said drug consumption, they were shambolic and the later the gig went on the worse they got

I think it was just their sound
Heart worms were one of the support and they were fine, so were Orbital ( seeing Mrs S dancing round her handbag 6 pints in was a sight to behold!)
Hopefully it will be better when we’re back to see Thundercat in a couple of weeks

In fairness I don't think I have ever seen them when they have been the headlining act or not in a bigger list.
I first saw them in 1987 at Finsbury Park where there were bottom of the bill behind The Railway Children and a Certain Ratio in a big circus tent type thing, this was pre re mix days and they were awful.
The last time was in 1991 at Elland Road, they were top of the bill and backed up by The Farm (Good) The La's (Awful) Stereo Mc's (Okish) Northside (Ok) The High (Ok)

They're touring with The Farm and Northside in March and April
Was tempted to buy a ticket for Guildford, then remembered the last time they played there and I vowed to never go and see them again as they were really poor.
I saw them at Brixton in about 99 and they were excellent, Paul Oakenfold as warm up DJ and they had the keyboard player from The Farm and Paul Wagstaff from The Paris Angels/Black Grape on lead guitar
That Eland Road gig was released as a live lp, Factory desperately trying to make some money before going bust, I remember being extremely underwhelmed when I bought it on double vinyl | |

Gary Numan at Soton University, think it was in the students bar about 20 years ago???
Don’t think he said a word at the start or between songs and left after a few songs, sound wasn’t great, persona even worse. Not sure if he couldn’t be arsed or that’s his normal
