We've all been very critical of the way SR have managed our club & rightly so.
But I for one will give them the credit they deserve for their decisions this season.
For a start they brought in Finn Azaz + Leo Scienze + Fellows.
Both Leo & Finn are proving to be great assets & their value will have increased dramatically, I'm still not convinced about Fellows, he's not quite lived up to his reputation.
They quickly got shot of Will Still which they would admit was a disaster & much to our surprise promoted Tonda to replace Still.
It was a surprise choice but the gamble so far has worked brilliantly, it was a masterstroke, Tonda has not only won over the players but got the fans right behind him.
In January we needed reinforcements, we needed a new keeper & a big powerful striker. Spors brought in two players none of us had ever heard of.
We were all very critical of those signings but both Peretz & Larin are starting to look like great signings.
I'll not forget what a mess that SR got into but it at last is looking as if they recognise previous mistakes & have learnt from them.
Or have they just been very lucky with the gambles they taken, only time will tell so let's just ride our luck while it lasts. |  | | |  |

I like the positivity.
I am usually a half full type of person, however, I feel like the expression "a broken clock is right twice a day" applies to SR. Their managerial appointments stink of "who's cheapest" and we've recruited so many strikers one was bound to have a purple patch upon joining (Larin).
My real hope is we get promoted and SR cashes out to an owner that has an ownership IQ of 10 (which would be 5x SR's) and my wildest dreams we actually get a competant owner.... | | | |

I'm very happy with where the club are right now, playing well and on a very good run
But
If we don't finish in the top 6 then this season has to be classed as a disappointment.
With the budget and resources we have that was the bare minimum we should be aiming for this season
I'll wait until the end of the season to make a judgement |  |

The real thing that changed with the recruitment of Larin is that they went out to sign a centre forward instead of a utility striker. It's a different profile of player. In fact they actually tried to get rid of all 3 of our utility strikers (Downs, AA, Archer) to sign 2 centre forwards. Unfortunately the second centre forward fell through, so Archer stayed, but at least it finally showed they were doing the right thing and had a plan to sign a completely different type of player to the ones they'd wanted before.
However, I doubt that this has anything to do with Spors or SR. More likely it was Tonda who insisted on the change. Clearly from what he's said it was Tonda who was behind the move to reduce the size of the squad and I believe he was behind the other changes too. It's unlikely that SR go through several windows with one plan for the strikers and then radically change plan mid season just off their own bat.
Equally, I see Tonda's hand in replacing Baz. SR have had plenty of opportunities to do that before, so why now? He wasn't actually playing any worse than he had done before. No doubt Tonda said, look we need to make a change.
So, yeah, SR got some value for the big bucks they spent, and Leo was definitely the result of some good scouting as, unlike Azaz and Fellows, he was an unknown. But I strongly doubt that this is all SR's good work. | | | |

As said below, yes give them some credit, but let's see what happens come the summer
If, and it's a big if, we do go up, there needs to be a lot if work done to prevent a repeat of last season.
And if we don't go up it will be equally as hard to get up if not more so with the additional clubs being in the play offs so nothing less that a top 2 will do
Let's milk the current situation, but ffs, don't rest on the laurels, there is still a lot of work to be done

I think SR realised (at least for now) that buying young players for a profit failed, that we needed to accept that Bazunu didn't work, that not having enough aggressive, experienced players failed, that having a stupid "philosophy" of playing out from the back failed and that bringing in a play station experiment manager failed. Tonda seemingly stomped his feet after that Hull game, finally got rid of Bazunu, got rid of a few of the dead wood, went to a back 4, kept things simple, put a tall striker up front and allows the players to just play the game. Everything the fans were calling for years. We now have a proper, experienced goalkeeper with international caps, a proper experienced forward with international caps, no more 5 at the back and ridiculous let's win the possession stats and now we are winning games. Hopefully SR stop any more experiments. I will give credit for the signings within the last year, Sciensa, Fellows,Azaz, Larin, Peretz etc. Things seems to be improving. [Post edited 15 Mar 15:17]
