Now the euphoria has died down 09:40 - Oct 12 with 689 viewsgrumpy

at beating Pompey.
We were not at our best yesterday.
Larin I think is not over his back issue.
Leo was quiet by his standards, perhaps feeling the result of so many crashing tackles.
JWP is not the player he once was.
When we went down to 10 men I was concerned about the second half but Tonda got it right and we won.
In Bree and Downes we have a couple of warriors and they were crucial yesterday.
Azaz is class and was man of the match.
Anyway forwards and onwards,go to see St. Marys rocking again.

We did all we had to do.

Now on to getting our first away win on Wednesday.

Poll: If we were today re-instated to the play-off final, would you go on Saturday?

It was all about winning the game yesterday
I would have been really annoyed if we’d failed to win yesterday due to Bragg getting himself sent off as they were so poor
It still annoys me that we’ve drawn with them in the previous 4 occasions when we had a much better side and because we didn’t take our chances we didn’t beat them

Fail we may, sail we must

It seemed like JWP was playing on the right and he isn’t quick enough to do that much better in the middle though now Jander is back that’s nit gonna be an easy pick
We need another striker to take the pressure off Larin
We won tho!

Under Tonda, Saints pace themselves very well, and then rip into the opposition when they're tiring in the final quarter of the game. They couldn't really do that so much yesterday because they were down to 10 men by then, but it was still noticeable that in the final 20 minutes even with 10 men, Saints took control. With 11, I think we'd have scored 2 or 3 late goals. Remember how poor we used to be with 10 men under previous managers?

Players who stood out for me - under the circumstances of being down to 10 men for more than half of a derby game - were Azaz, Schlotterbeck, Stephens, Downes....in fact, the whole team.

Bragg will learn that he mustn't keep turning round and facing his own goal when he gets the ball. Opposition analysts have surely noted it and the Pompey players were waiting to pounce when he did it yesterday.

If Mousinho was saying Azaz should have got a red card, what about Ebou Adams? He committed at least 4 yellow card offences worse than anything Bragg did. Adams is the same cheat who scored Pompey's equaliser with his hand in the last derby game.

The sending off ruined the game Grumps we would have been all out attack if that hadn’t of happened . We did what we needed to do .

JWP was sitting in at right back at times because Bree was bombing forward a lot and we did get caught out a few times because of it.

It felt like a bit of a punch in the stomach when Bragg got sent off. We were well on top, and I could only see us going on to win by more but then the sending off changed things. Tonda and the players then did an incredible job doing what we had to do to win the game. We showed resilience, strength and passion to get that game won. Under the circumstances, winning one nil was very satisfying and full credit to the players.
