Would have taken a draw before the game and certainly after the first 20 minutes. We did well to not only get back into the match but to also dominate for a time but despite limiting them to a few good chances we once again contrived to gift a couple of goals. We draw too many games and need to do better in the second half of the season. Good to see JWP put away another quality free kick and Broja took his goal brilliantly. Overall an entertaining game between two very average sides but it reflects the gap between the top sides and the average sides.

Lyanco looks like another disaster waiting to happen type, i don't think at present we have a decent cb at the club. Salisu maybe in the future but currently we are all at sea in that position. Djenpo once again proved a complete waste of a substitution. Over all a decent away point as long as we back it up with a win on saturday.

Better stuff today, draw a fair outcome IMO. First time since Newcastle we get anything
from a game where we concede first. But still a little frustrating to let a lead slip of course.
Caballero was much improved as was the defense as a whole - we kept the ball out of our area
for long spells. The press was more sustained and effective than in recent games.
Broja has the potential to be some player - great finish again. Tella and Redmond were also
good. Subs lead to a drop off in quality and we did not really look like scoring. Djenepo
disappointing - like Bambi on ice as someone noted! Hope he can get his act back together
soon.

"Southampton have dropped 73 points from winning positions in the Premier League since Ralph Hasenhuttl took charge of the club." The next worst team in the league has only dropped 57.

It's shocking that as soon as we take the lead, the manager, players and fans are thinking, 'Can we hang on for a point?' It's got so bad now that we even think yet another 2 points dropped is a point gained.

Long and Walcott should not have been brought on tonight. When they come on it is a signal to everyone that we are only going to try to hang on for a point. We certainly aren't going to score a winning goal with those two.

I felt the win was there for the taking tonight against a fragile Palsce side. I hope that pulling off Broja and Tella pays off against Brentford with a win because if it doesn't, our winless run will extend to 8 and we'll be staring at releagtion.

Broja looks like the young Shearer. We should play him every minute that we can before he goes back to Chelsea at the end of the season. His goals are our best hope of staying up.

We put up a good fight with an injury hit team, I thought , without playing particularly well, so I'm happy with the point.
Great to see JWP score PL freekick goal no. 11. And what a beautiful freekick goal it was.
Apart from that - with JWPs set piece kicking ability service - we are pretty poor at making corners and dead ball crosses into goals.
Brojas goal was also class. For me, he has to start whenever he's fit! Pace, dribbling skills, shot accuracy: top drawer for a 20-year old.
Djenepo was shocking. He is beginning to p*ss me off a LOT.

Why doesn't Ralph tell our defense NOT to play the ball out from the back with risk in the first 20 minutes of a difficult away game? I mean, behind after 2 minutes because of risk taking from the back?? (angry emoji).

Did they find Smallbone's ball?

Good game to watch.

Plenty of positives, 2 good goals, JWP looked sharper, Broja showed the clinical finish that we need, Redmond and Tella ran their socks off and looked creative, Tino looked great and did a pretty good job against Zaha, Smallbone great return and played some great through balls.

Some things to work on, Salisu and Lyanco was a new pairing, Salisu for all his undoubted skill and ability is still prone to making a goof, Big Willy is a good back up in the circumstances but the defence looks disorganised- the second goal was an 'institutional' failing. Djenepo got in good positions but first touch just wasn't there - he needs his confidence boosted. Unfortunately Shane Long and Theo didn't really add much when the game was still up for grabs.

Still in a better place than after Saturday, roll on Brentford

Bank the point and (if Saturday not postponed) move on I say. Deplorable first ten minutes. First goal came from our attack where we had a chance to cross and instead went back to the halfway line - I thought the Hughes tackle was a foul but even so...

Once we got through the early storm I thought the game was pretty even. Yes - home side looked more like getting a winner but, still, a deserved point. Of course this game will reignite the question of whether our biggest problem is attack or defence. Two away from home is reasonable at a fairly decent Palace side - the two conceded were both avoidable and, let's face it Palace could, and perhaps should have made it 2-0.

The first goal came as we went backwards from the edge of their box and lost it in midfield!
Lyanco & Salisu both have a lot to learn and tonight it showed a fair bit.
Tompkins is probably still looking over his shoulder for Tella who was excellent and JWP's free kick will hopefully give him his confidence back. finally there is really no place in the first team squad for Long, Wallcott & Djenepo who offer very little and are holding back some of our promising youngsters?

After the initial panic, we dug in and put in quite a good performance.
2 excellent goals and created plenty of other chances.
If only we could find our strikers with our cut backs or make better decisions in and around the box, we would easily be 10 points better off this season.
That goes for the defence too. We always look like we will concede or gift chances through errors and I don't think anyone has any confidence in the keeper. Dare I say I hope FF and AMcC recover quickly !!

That said, we were a little weakened last night, so did well in the circumstances, but we need to follow this well earned point with a win on Saturday.

BTW You missed Benteke off the list of Palace players - he definitely came on last night.

Good game, Brilliant free kick from JWP and strike from Broja. Defence was drawn to benteke for the second, and it was almost kept out...what a difference that woudl have made. Press was better and more controlled and I am moving to saturday with a bit more confidence.

Here is an idea...if Chelski buy Tino back for 25m at the end of the season, we sign Broja for 35 or 40...I think we would get him for that and he is one hell of a player. He looks like a proper striker and most importantly can hit the target.
