| Bounce Back Loans 11:49 - May 4 with 2810 views | Boris_ | Another great move from Rishi. £50k loans with no repayments for 12 months and no interest for 12 months, fixed 2.5% APR for the remaining 5 years with no Early Repayment Fees. Good job we have a business minded government leading us through this pandemic. | |

Im thinking of doing the same TBH, why wouldnt a business take advantage?

| Bounce Back Loans on 12:25 - May 6 by kernow | If your BUSINESSES go pop the Government repay with interest the loans to the Bank so it is risk free as far as you and the Bank are concerned as the taxpayer picks up the tab. I can see the attraction. |
Well exactly, but if your BUSINESS goes pop then either a) You're scamming everyone therefore you're a c*nt or b) turns out you did need the loan after all.

Every single business should take one if they qualify and any good accountant would encourage you to. Who knows where this pandemic is heading... for the sake of spending 3 minutes filling out the form, you might as well have the money sat in your bank for 12 months and if you don't end up needing it, just give it back and it costs you £0.

So you think that every business should apply for these loans whether they need them or not so that they can invest in their business. How do you think that will work out? There is only so much money in the pot.

I can assure you the banks have more than enough cash floating around , covering every business that qualifies would be a mere drop in the ocean compared to how much they have in reserves.

No every BUSINESS should take one out to suit their particular circumstances which could be: a) Holding the money in their bank just incase this situation gets worse. Give it back in 12 months if it's not needed. b) Pay bills and costs to keep them afloat whilst not being able to trade. c) Use the facility as a means of investing in their BUSINESS, either with staff ( more people in work ) or machinery/production ( leading to more people in work ) so they are set up to 'Bounce Back' There is enough money in the pot for every qualifying BUSINESS to take out £50k, which is the cap. The government will have done their maths. They were pretty much spot on with how much furloughing would cost, for example. Now, what is your problem? I assume you've never run or owned a BUSINESS to fully understand how you develop one?

Use to support your business through hard times and keep it going seems fair to me. Let's just hope the same is afforded to those who don't run businesses and the poor and vulnerable aren't punished as they were during the austerity years.

Exactly. No-one knows what's round the corner or what bad debt may suddenly fall on a business. Just because a business doesn't need a cash injection now, doesn't mean it won't in 2,3, 4 months time. Take the money, stick it in an account and If you don't need to draw on it, great, your business has survived and you hand it back after 12 months and if you do, the money has helped save your business and the jobs of your employees, which is exactly the point of it. Unfortunately, too many people sneer and see business owners as scumbags trying to line their own pockets all the time, without really understanding how business works. This thread is a prime example of those that do and those that don't.

Anyone who takes a loan and intentionally strips out their company and liquidates based on the knowledge that the government are guaranteeing the loans so they won't get chased are indeed scum. It's clear you aren't too savvy in BUSINESS but 'profits' pay wages and loans back so any business should be taking the loan with a view to using it to make a profit, so not sure you really thought about that comment. I am sure the bank want me to make a profit from that money or they won't be getting it back. You do know our furlough scheme for workers is one of the best, if not THE best in the world, don't you? Imagine that, tories looking after the workers!
