The government not hitting their 'testing' target of 100,000 a day, although the capacity is there for far in excess of 100,000 a day tests.
I went on the Government site last night and could have booked a test 6 miles from my house this morning and there were over 2000 appointments available within 28 miles of my house.
It's now the Boris' fault apparently that there isn't enough people in the UK displaying Covid-19 symptoms.
What do the loony left expect Boris to do? Force people to get tested by law, even if they don't have symptoms?

Everybody should go and get a test, the government are pretty clear that tests are available, the issue is that the media spend all their time moaning about there being no tests available ( when there's thousands in every area as well as post ) which in turn makes people wrongly assume that they can't get tested.

This post is completely missing the point.
Yes, we do need to test people who don’t want one. Until we can test really large numbers we are never going to have a ‚real time‘ handle on where the virus hot spots are or whether it is increasing.
Getting to 100,000 testing capacity is a great achievement. (Although it was silly of the govt to artificially say 100,000 tests were done on 30 April - stupid spin, which fooled no one when the numbers then dropped back) and 200,000 will be better still. But we will need even more than that if we are going to monitor the post-lockdown position properly, to help avoid a second peak.

I always find that when a government (of any party) makes announcements on large scale projects or targets, it is more often the case of then doubling that figure and add a further 10% for a far more accurate outcome.
This wave of the uk coronavirus will see upward of 44,000 covid-19 related deaths....
Sadly we have a lot more innocent lives yet to lose. | |

There is nothing 'loony' at all in criticising it.
As for the tests, the poster clearly hasn't gone through the process of booking one which I have had to try and do this week.
After going through a number of filtering screens you get options to book a test either for a home kit (none available) or at a local drive in centre. There are also offline a number of places reserved for priority key workers/cases.
Today is the first day I have been able to book and I have been trying since Monday. Everyday the site has posted that there were booking slots available but whenever this has been attempted you get a screen saying its full up and to try again tomorrow. Of course after 5 days the test is pointless.
I am sure both the Thatcher Governments and the Brown Government would have handled this crisis far better. I cannot say that for the Blair government or the conservative ones since 2010 nor the Major one

People need to stop comparing us to other countries and cultures... you only have to look at numerous reports from people of the Isle of Wight screaming that they were never asked if they wanted to take part in the track and trace app etc etc to know what a squinnying nation we are now.
We do need more testing, however it's the press and media who are painting the picture there is no capacity for tests, so people aren't getting tested when there's loads of capacity! The press and media will be literally killing people with their negative agendas. | |

Show me one report this week of someone with symptoms complaining they can't get tested and/or one report from the press or media saying people aren't taking up the appointment spots and encouraging them to do so?

South Korea have also (almost 100%) abandoned personal privacy WRT smart technology with track/trace
something that is not remotely palatable here for some reason. | |
