| Bournemouth 12:49 - Jul 16 with 3625 views | SaintNick | Who thinks they might just pull out of it ? If Watford lose to West Ham tomorrow night then there last two games are against Manchester City home and Arsenal away, as it stands at the moment, Bournemouth are 3 points and 4 goals difference behind I think unless Watford beat West Ham I would back Bournemouth to get out of it, I can see them getting at least 1 win out of the last 2 games possibly a draw as well, I think Watford are now the team in trouble, Bournemouth have the momentum if they Watford fail to win at West Ham | |

If that's right and they have a chance to stay up I'd hope we don't make much effort to win the game. I don't want them to go down and it wouldn't feel right for it to be us that killed them off after they helped us when we needed it. If they were virtually down already then we'd go all out for the 3 points with no qualms.

How did they help us? Our only victory in our last 6 games against them was a 2-1 win at St Mary's in the 2017/18 season and that was a real battle. Josh King scored their equalizer in injury time at the end of the first half. Our entire defence was booked in what the BBC described as "a dogged - and sometimes desperate - defensive display to keep Bournemouth out. " McCarthy kept us in it with some great saves at the end. Bournemouth certainly weren't trying to do us any favours. Their fans, players and manager would have loved to send us down. [Post edited 21 Jul 2020 7:05]

Do you mean in our "desperate defensive display to keep Bournemouth out" when they laid siege to our goal? Because that's the only time we've beaten them in recent years. We've won just one of our last six games against them. With our bogey teams, Leeds and West Ham, in the Premier League next season and with the 3 teams we got nearly half of our points from this season potentially being relegated if we lose to Bournemouth, there is no way a Saints' fan can be happy to see that. Yeah I realise we often beat Watford and lose to West Ham, but can't personally wish relegation on West Ham. I'd be happy to see Norwich, Villa and Watford go down. Leeds, Brentford and Millwall to go up. I have my reasons, for what it's worth.

You're right, one win could be enough, and also for Villa, what with Watford's final 2 games. Goal Diff now is Watford -23, Bournemouth-25, Villa-27, so very tight. Problem is City don't need to bust a gut, and Arsenal probably won't have a lot to play for come the last game. Latest relegation odds Villa 1/6, Bournemouth 1/4, Watford 5/4. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

This was part of their pre-match thread: Weymouth-Boy New Signing Saturday at 5:21 PM#48 Bournemouth 5 - 0 Scum You heard it here first. That's n automatic 2 goal swing so really any win will do. Obviously 5 -0 vs Scummers would be ideal [Post edited 21 Jul 2020 7:03]

If Villa hold on tonight that shakes it up. Hoping Watford and Bournemouth go down personally.

You're probably right, Bournemouth 1/33 Watford 2/7 Villa 2/1 to be relegated Watford deserve to go for sacking NP who gave them a fair chance of staying up, Bournemouth can't concede 60+ goals a season forever and Villa probably deserve it just for tonight's performance.
| Bournemouth on 18:12 - Jul 26 with 823 views | dirk_doone | If Bournemouth had played any team other than Saints in their penultimate game, they'd probably have stayed up. They only needed a point and were in great form when we faced them but they came up against the most in-form team in the league. | |

Small margins Oh well, not bothered at all. They aren't our rivals anyway, regardless of what the press and their fans may think and their stadium is too small for the Prem.
