Unbelievably heard on the radio earlier, that he is the current 'favourite' to take over the helm at Watford !!

How bizarre when you consider they don't know what league they will be in next year, he is probably still under contract at Saint Etienne and his record as managing in the Prem is somewhat of differing opinion.

Wouldn't really say that Watford was his fit, but let's see.

Could be ideal for Watford seeing as a 0-0 draw is all they need to stay up in their next 2 games.

I also thought this.

Though wouldn’t Allardyce be just as handy for this?

Still, interesting possibilities for Claude.....

Poll: If we win a play-off semi at St. Mary’s should there be a pitch invasion?

Glad to see that as we now have 49pts, we’ve exceeded the 46 in Claude’s season.

Even though we finished 8th that season it was flattering, we’ve had far better performances since November than most games, apart from League Cup run under Puel, when generally games were dour.

How many times have we got above 50 points in the prem ?

Poll: WTF is a little pompey ?

I’m surprised at Watford sacking Pearson. If they go down he would have done a reasonable job of getting them back up again and if he kept them up he deserved another shot next year. Still, at least they keep plenty of different managers in a job each season.

Thanks, it's not gonna be easy but I fancy us to win on Sunday and get the 52 points.

It's been great having league football in June/July and Saints playing well, just the job when a lot of us needed cheering up.

Poll: WTF is a little pompey ?

Would be interesting to see league positions with all of those especially as we finished 8th under Puel with less points.

Not sure what that says about the standard /competition in the Prem. The fact that Liverpool finished so far ahead nicking points off everyone may come in to it but could also prove that it actually is the best league around as so unpredictable apart from knowing who the top 4 or 5 may be?

As with his previous clubs had a big fall out with powers that be apparently which seeing him in his interviews I could may be understand. Fall outs with players as well apparently so toys thrown out of pram and a pay off but further reputation damage?

I don’t normally get to see Saints in live tv as , like a lot of others would normally be actually at the match.

What I’ve noticed since watching Saints on TV since the restart is that it doesn’t matter who is commenting they will mention 2 things -

1) the 9-0 defeat to Leicester

2) An 8th place finish wasn’t enough to keep Puel in a job.

The fact we finished 8th with probably the lowest points tally to finish 8th - this season 8th place team will have 54 points .

Thanks for that Tim, though didn't expect it

But it throws my theory right out of the window!! All seasons tend to be in the same ball park position apart maybe from that first season of the Prem for some reason even taking in to account the additional games

That 1st Prem Season was a strange one.

Forest were bottom on 40
Boro 2nd bottom on 44
Palace 3rd bottom on 49

Oldham survived on GD (2 goals and more goals scored)
We were next on 50

Think we virtually already safe, despite losing something like 6 of our last 7 or 8 games. We were comfortably in mid-table obscurity before that run, which despite a hat trick from MLT, ended in a 4-3 loss at Oldham - which kept them up. I remember all their fans shaking our hands through the fences and outside after the game - because if they had lost or even drawn, they would have been relegated.

Not sure what the problem is with Puel’s 8th finish with a relatively low points total. We were still the 8th best team in the Premier League that season. Ok, the football was often turgid, but 8th is 8th and that was a cracking cup run and final.
