Stephen’s doing his best to screw it up

Newcastle Game Matchday Thread on 20:05 - Nov 6 by Saintsforeverj | Looks like Walker-Peters is on the right. Also looks like we are playing the back 5 from what i can see. [Post edited 6 Nov 2020 20:05]

Stephens is playing like a 3rd centre half but in the left back position , he gets it waits for someone to close him then passes it back , I don't think we will be seeing many forward runs or passes from him but as long as he's solid it'll do for this game.

You're right. It's a back 4 but Djenepo does keep appearing in three left back position to help Stephens.

He worry's me every time he has the ball. Almost treating the ball like a hot potato and not really wanting it or knowing what to do with it when e does get it He'll probably get up t a corner now and score a stunning Vestergard style thunder header! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Agree. Stephens looks all out of sorts and is a liability at the moment. We get in some good positions and then he just stops, waits and plays it back. That's when he is not giving it away. Surely we could have brought someone up from reserves and given them a chance. They couldn't do any worse.

Any chance of a well done for one of our players who is playing well? I know you like to just slag everyone off instead, behind a computer screen.

Just had that horrible feeling when Carroll had come on and we had not taken our chances. Hope Walcott has not picked up a long term injury. Such a sense of pride to see us at the top however brief it may be.

Newcastle Game Matchday Thread on 18:15 - Nov 6 by Gennaro_Contaldo | Shelvey is a pain ... him being out is good news. He's one of those players Saints struggle against due to his unpredictability ... This will be a poor match though, nothing like the last couple. Scrappy, 1-0 or 0-0. Will take either score tbh. |
Well I got that wrong - not scrappy, brilliant!

What a professional performance given the changes made. Probably helpful that we were playing Newcastle tonight but a job very well done. Give Ralph the freedom of the city now. What a great job he is doing given the constraints he has to deal with. Happy days!
Newcastle Game Matchday Thread on 22:35 - Nov 6 with 330 views | NYC_Saint | The crispness of a lot of our one touch passing was excellent and left Newcastle chasing shadows. Their keeper played a blinder too and we could've put this to be much earlier. Defense was great and Djenepo did really well to help Stephens who whilst not setting the world on fire performed the job as well as anyone could have hoped. Interestingly the only player I thought was off the pace was Armstrong as he seemed to under hit a lot of his passes. I would have taken him off earlier and then he sealed the game. I clearly know nothing and am very happy with RH's game management! The election and this in the same week, 2020's starting to look up.
