Can’t believe they are happening tomorrow. Usually there are candidates boards in front gardens and piles of electoral literature on the door mat. This year, apart from a few boards from the Greens there are very few boards around. We have also had some leaflets from the Torys but not from anyone else. No one knocking on doors asking for votes. I don’t even know who the candidates are. Ok, it’s not as big a deal as a GE but it is still important. It is as if no one in this part of the world gives a ****.

The opposition aren’t being punished. It is much more complicated than that. People don’t like to admit that they are wrong, hence a number of Johnson supporters still arguing that somehow this joker is the right man to take this country forward. As I said before, Trump, although voted out, still managed to increase his vote. Many commentators said yesterday that Starmer has a mountain to climb and has only just started. One by election result doesn’t mean a thing, it is what happens at the next election that is important and that is what he needs to be judged on. As well as convincing the country that he is worth voting for he also has to convince many in his own party who will problem never forgive him for not being Corbyn. A lady on Question Time (who isn’t a politician) made a very good point last night when they were discussing the likelihood of Hartlepool becoming Tory. Why on Earth is Johnson still getting away with the 127,000 plus deaths? Probably because he constantly blocks an independent public enquiry. It will happen eventually though and then he will have nothing to hide behind and perhaps people will finally understand what their votes have meant for this country.
You don't get it do you?
The deaths are very well worth an enquiry but they're not the reason people aren't rushing to Labour, Labour are just disingenuous, their awkward flag waving now or their apparent love of nation, it cringe, also so many Labour mp's are fixated with Palestine over domestic issues people have had enough, look inward and reflect don't look out, even Starmer saying that now (probably disingenuous and desperate but there we go), being woke and being on point isn't for all and the UK isn't London. We have to learn, we have to become more focused on unity not allowing everyone to have a say and then try to take it all on board, it dilutes the message, you can shove woke up your arse.

As a Labour voter all my life I can say they're goosed, too focused on feeling guilty and being all woke, they've taken the northern vote for granted for far far too long and this is the result, they won't come back now, the party tried to become patriotic and it looked hollow, false and desperate. And what bellend put a pro EU candidate in a fiercely anti EU contest? This shows how far from reality they've come, too London, too woke, too afraid to offend. They'll only improve if they put candidates up in areas that represents the areas feelings, like a pro EU candidate in a pro EU area and vice versa BUT the pro EU candidate has to understand they can not seek another referendum as they'll weaken the national viewpoint. I voted leave, I vote Labour and I am a proud Brit who loves the Union flag, I know I am in the minority and that is one of the reasons Labour is screwed.
Or you could take the view of the other Labour supporters on here and say that the voters didn't want to look stupid about the massive mistake they had made over Brexit and felt compelled to vote Tory to save face.
Of felt all they had to do was wait for the Tories to kick Boris out after all everyone can see he has more kids then he knows , or he had an affair or he didn't pay for his wallpaper surely the voters must see that that alone would cause the voting masses to rise up against him.
And yet they are still amazed with every result when every warning sign was flashing like crazy that they were so out of touch with the mood of the country and they say Britain is crazy and an awful place. Its the like of those tunnel blind woke champagne socialists that were ruining the country. The people are claiming it back.

Are you serious? What has being “woke” got to do with the deaths of over 127,000 people?

So listening to radio 4 this morning it’s saying Labour lost Hartlepool because “ voters don’t trust them” But they trust BoJo Hancock lying Raab etc?? The mind boggles at people’s thought process
Saint22 My mind always boggles at your thought process

Its never good for any country to have to have a weak opposition.
Absolutely, consecutive election wins should be earned by any government. To refer back to my previous post, the last time that Labour won a general election, Tony Blair was the party leader. He knew that by not compromising the core 1970's values they could never gain power, and managed to take enough of the party along with him to gain the trust of the country.
The country has demonstrated that the most trustworthy leader who reflects what they want from a government is Boris. Like it or not, they will put up with his indiscretions and failings because they don't like the look of any of the rest, that is the reality and it is unlikely to change before the next election.

An ex MP put it like this to describe Labour's failures:
There has to be a lesson there in what this country votes for. Blair made a huge error from the war, but he was strong, charismatic, determined, strong willed, unafraid to offend etc. Boris is the only leader who can be remotely described like that.
Boris delivered Brexit, a brilliantly successful furlough and vaccination programme. On top of that he's keeping his promise to deliver jobs to the area with the treasury relocation, Freeports and infrastructure. Labour are obsessed with woke issues like tearing down statues, no wonder ordinary people find them increasingly alien.

Ok Carrie, the game’s up. We know it’s you!
Ok, I admit it, I am a beautiful women. Now get me some of that environmentally friendly wall paper and an electric driverless car (Boris will have a word about the price). And don't forget to get me my toxin free makeup. And if you don't, I will tell Boris😜

Oh come on Carrie. You might be a smart cookie but beautiful you are not. If you were you wouldn’t be shagging a strangely coiffured, chubster narcissist like Johnson.

Sogs, I refer you to that erstwhile skate and all round pug, Darren Anderton*, who in answer to the question “what would you be if you weren’t a footballer?” answered “a virgin!”.
*or it could have been that other rasher of piss, Peter Crouch, come to think of it...

And Hampshire is Tory too. Boris turning out to be quite the clever one.

Quite a surprise in Salisbury where Tories lost control of City Council, with Labour taking one extra seat and Lib Dems 7 extra , but here it appears voters voted on local issues rather than national ones with Tories presiding over several fiascos in the last few years

Where have I said woke is to do with 127,000 deaths? The average punter hates the woke lot, it also makes us unelectable, believe it or not, outside of large metropolitan areas there are people who loves this Country, flag and its people. If you can't grasp that or your social bubble only allows echo chambers then I can't help you, meet people who disagree with you, you may have some middle ground?

You disagree with everything I say and to be frank I would rather stick pins in my eyes than spend time with people like you. You throw the phrase “woke” around like it some kind of infectious disease. It is just another lazy ploy used by people with deeply ingrained prejudices to have a dig at those who call them out.
