| Eddie Howe on 23:40 - May 29 by Sadoldgit | Clearly I have upset you in some way and for that I am sorry. As for my opinion of Howe, he is obviously a good manager but I don’t think he is any better than Ralph and I don’t think he would do any better here with the resources available. And no, I am not narcissistic and I know all about them because I was married to one for several years. As for Celtic, one of the few British teams to win the European Cup, I think you will find that they are a much “bigger” club than Bournemouth, Burnley or indeed, us. So a move there would be a step up for him. [Post edited 30 May 2021 9:19]

If Celtic are a much bigger club than us how come we poach all there good players and we send our rejects to them ? I appreciate your opinion SoG's but you are simply wrong if you think Howe moving to Celtic is a step up for him. Just look at the latest SaintsNews article by Nick , again we are looking at a Celtic player so why on earth do you think they are a bigger club than us , they would struggle in our Championship and yes i know its purely down to the power of money but money is power and they have none. Just to add i looked at twitter to see which club has the more followers which is always a good indication of a clubs following , Celtic 720.000 Saints 1,300,000. What is your definition of bigger ? With the power of money Celtic and Rangers would both be a major force if they competed in the Premier League. Massive clubs, huge followings around the World, big stadiums, packed to the rafters every week with obsessed, fanatical, baying lunatics. Trophy cabinets the size of your house, stuffed with siverware. That's why on earth they are bigger than us. Twitter? lol. [Post edited 31 May 2021 11:18]

No they wouldn't. They are not a massive club around the world , they are a massive club in Scotland. We have a worldwide following twice the size of Celtic. Glasgow has a population of 1.7m whilst Southampton is about 1/2 that. The likes of Newcastle , Sunderland and our big Northern cities fail to make a mark on the Premiership so what makes you think Celtic or Rangers would from s starting point of a lot lower mark ? If Saints played in the Scottish League we would win it every year. I guess you oldies remember Celtic winning a European Cup 50 odd years ago , didnt Portsmouth win some stuff way back in the day ? Fair enough auld fella. According to Transfer market our shite Saints squad is worth 270million Euros , Celtics is £82million and that includes one of our players Mohamed Elyounoussi at £10.8 million.

Why would it. If you were a player wouldn’t you like to see your manager get emotional about a big win? It was a backs against the wall performance. Didn’t you feel total relief when that final whistle blew?

I see what you mean ITB. It wasn't as if it was a cup final or we guaranteed safety. There are 100's of League games each season and I cant recall a manger crying after a game , the manager is meant to be the strong one. I am not saying this in jest but perhaps he has burnt out and its affecting him mentally. Too much passion can effect your judgement , that KWP substitution was very strange.

| Eddie Howe on 21:33 - May 31 with 1961 views | Bison | Back too the Howe part , this thread has intrigued me , before I was 100% behind Ralph , I enjoy watching his teams for most of a match , we play good football. But we cant last 90 minutes and we keep doing the same old thing and mostly lose. Its been happening for nearly 2 years now , I like Howes style of football a bit old school , a bit tippy tappy when he had good players like Brookes. I really think he could get a bit more out of our players , a more traditional style would suit us given our lack of passing skills under pressure , how many defensive mistakes have we seen from almost innocuous situations ? Veste , red card. Stephens.... running under his foot.... Under Howe I dont think we would be worrying each week if we going to get another 9-0 paste'in and if you all honest when we play the big teams before hand we all crossing our fingers. And as an afterthought and getting back to why Howe did not go to Celtic..... maybe Saints have made an approach , just checked odds on Next Saints Manager - Eddie Howe 4 Alan Pardew 15/2 Frank Lampard 17/2 Steve Cooper 10 Mark Hughes 12 S Allardyce 12 Now out of that bunch I guess most would say Howe or Lampard. | |

No SoG's and even with those odds Ralph is still odds-on to be manager come the start of next season. Which I would not mind at all , I am just trying to give a critical view as I think I may of got blinkered by the start to the season we had , I have looked at the 2nd 2/3rds and its pretty awful. I have come to the conclusion the manager has to take some blame , well more than some blame as he picks the teams. Out of the betting options I would pick Howe now to replace Ralph , if he is not an option I would stick with Ralph. I am not being vindictive to Ralph I just think Howe would do a better job with the squad we currently have.

| Eddie Howe on 22:02 - May 31 with 1929 views | Saintsforeverj | It's all quite obvious what will happen. Ralph will be the manager at the start of the season and deserves that chance. If we have a terrible start, the pressure will build, the fear of relegation will set in, forcing the board to act, although I think the owner would get a lot of the wrath. Eddie Howe, who has a house down south and who is pretty decent would be the obvious replacement. Alternatively, Ralph has a good sort out of the squad in the summer, and we do ok. If we do ok or better, the board won't sack him as it's money they would rather keep if they can as we are skint. I have a gut feeling that next season is going to be struggle, the league is so strong, in all honesty Ralph doesn't look the same person anymore, we are being linked with players from Lincoln as Bertrand replacement, but let's see. I would imagine that Howe would get a decent job over the summer (Everton?) and therefore would not be available should Ralph depart before the end of next season. Still, who knows? | | | |

| Eddie Howe on 16:43 - May 30 by sledger | would take howe in a heartbeat for ralph, just cant understand how he gets away with the teams performance, defensively shocking mainly because we play so open, average players need to be looked after,no other team been beat by 9 once let alone twice, and another plus think how much it would p*ss off those down the road |
Howe got Bournemouth relegated, individual results don't matter it is what you do over the season that matters, Howe got found out for having no plan B, had two winless streaks in his last season as bad as our one this and still people talk about him as a good manager

Strachan was the man to relegate Coventry and look how that turned out for us. I think Howe would be a great fit for us.

Cynical though I am, I find it hard to believe that Howe would go public in hoping another man would lose his job. He seemed like a decent sort to me, but then WTF do I know as at least 50% of those involved in football seem to be complete cvnts these days.
