You are right he would not start but nor does Grealish, he would have been a useful addition on the bench in the final third of the game, England still don't create chances from dead ball situations enough, we rely on going on the break, you have to have options, I would suspect that JWP's contribution to this tournament may be exactly the same as several others who did make the squad ie absolutely zero |  |

I agree with the fact we don't create enough dead ball opportunities. Much as I grumble about Mount's performances, I'd still pick him ahead of JWP. The way we get most free kicks is with Grealish playing, but I don't see JWP getting picked over Phillips, Rice possibly. Grealish hasn't been picked over Foden, Saka or Sancho to start. Therefore I don't think JWP would have been used even if he was in the squad. |  |
