As I said, Robson was viewed as a hero for the rest of his life for getting us to the SF of Italia 90 where we drew against Holland and ROI, beat the mighty Egyptians 1-0, beat a pretty average Belgium team by last min ET goal after a very drab match and beat football giants Cameroon thanks to two late pens when we were losing 2-1. Oh yeah, and then a standard loss against Germany.

Yes, unbelievable manager. To get Derby promoted to the First Division and then win it was one thing. But to do the same thing again with Forest and then win back to back European Cups was something else.

No issue with Robson but lots of footballers have dedicated their lives to the sport and done lots for charity without even getting an MBE (MLT for one) so let's be honest, if we get knocked out of the 90 WC at the group stages no way he is Knighted.

I will say 100% he didn't get his Knighthood for his charity work. This can be confirmed as his award pre-dated his charity being set-up and the official listing for his knighthood read 'Services to football' and no mention of charitable work at all.
So if we take away Italia '90 what did Robson get his Knighthood for in terms of services to football? An average performance at other national competitions? An unremarkable playing career? Zero trophies at Newcastle? It can't be winning one UEFA cup. There are numerous British managers who have won in Europe but were not Knighted.

Wish I had your confidence. Fortunately England shaded a close game with one goal, both teams had chances. Croatia team older and slower since last encounter. Our goal went in off the goalkeeper. The Scots will definitely be up for it but whether they have the skills is doubtful.

I was at the game yesterday and by fûck it was hot.
We never got out of first gear and did enough to win it.
I would of liked a second goal of course but it’s going to be a long tournament, hopefully & player management is key.
Southgate used the subs wisely. Ralph take note.
