Not the sort of signing that our new owners like to make so perhaps no substance in it.

Nick is referring to what the media like to call the "moneyball" approach that the owners were famous for at Brentford. The idea that if you can't compete financially and make major signings then you use data and analysis to uncover gems that are under the radar and available at reasonable prices.

Wasn’t it Brentford who employed some young English lad living in France to scout for them? Good thinking outside the box there, think he ‘discovered’ Said Benrahma amongst others.

If Saints do go down the Brentford route, it will be interesting to see what they do with the academy as Brentford scrapped theirs a few years ago as they weren’t getting players coming all the way through after they kept getting taken by other clubs before they reached scholarships.

High wages yes but imagine how much interest he would generate for us . Bums on seats new or extra sponsorship deals , shirt sales, more tv games , hot dogs and bovrils .

Kerching

He would probably only play a couple of games before pulling his hamstring on the golf course.

He would make Walcott look like an absolute bargain.

Last season when he eventually got games for Spurs he had the best goals to minutes in the premier league, he’s still class but no chance he’s coming here, he’s all about the money

That's it though isn't it.....just let that sink in, £100k per week and it still wouldn't be enough to get someone of his ilk to kick a ball for us.

Oh for the days when a player retired from footy and had to go and run a boozer or turn their hamd to labouring.....

Can't speak from personal experience but it's not inconceivable that earning money ceases to be the prime mover once you've made more than you're ever likely to spend.

I suppose it depends on if the player enjoys playing, if yes then they’d probably be happy to take a cut to carry on but if they see it as a job then less likely

Different ways of looking at this though. £100k is £5m or so per year. Tyson Fury made nearly x3 that in one night last year. Sport is about tv money and the top players, fighters etc are the superstars that drive these mega deals. It seems obscene if compared to a nurse’s salary but not if compared to a top actor or singer.

Not bitter though , he best sulking at vanilla than here .
