Keeper crisis 07:57 - Jan 9 with 19557 viewsdmm

It must be odds on that Archer is out for a while with his shoulder injury. If so, does Warburton turn to Walsh, recall Barnes (if he can) or look for a short term loan to fill the gap until Dieng returns?

My feeling is a short term loan is the way to go. There must be a PL or Championship club with a decent squad keeper who wants game time.

As a rookie 19 year old I wouldn't expect Walsh to be ready to play half a dozen Championship games. Barnes simply isn't good enough.

By all accounts, and particularly Dave Mc's, it looks like Joe Walsh will take it easy on the bench instead of taking it to limit in the starting 11.

Max Little?

I personally would give Walsh the starting position but we need an experienced back up: Max Little looks way off first team level at this stage.

I don't think we should be going into League games with our only keeping option an untried 19 year old.
Just hope our Recruitment team can find 1 experienced keeper by Saturday

In my walking football team we take it in turns to go in goal. Fifteen minutes each. Seems to work pretty well.

Bit of a coincidence, wonder if he’ll be fit for a medical tomorrow.

I keep meaning to join a walking football team in my area, but I think it might be too fast for me.
Is it played with smaller goals,as I think I could just about manage with ice hockey size goals.

Worth going for Morocco's keeper who played today. Apparently he still hasn't found what he's looking for.

Wonder if Lee Grant would be available? Not exactly got fond memories of playing against us for Derby and Man Utd, but he’s fourth choice there, getting nowhere near that squad and has the experience Warbs might be after.

Ben Hamer has been playing for Swansea in the League and Cup, so can’t see that one happening.

Freddie Woodman would be interesting but don’t remember him pulling up any trees last season.

Andy Lonergan is another Prem keeper down the pecking order and we were linked with him in the summer.

I see the Daily Fail are running the same story so it seems to be David Marshall on a perm. It'll be interesting to see how long his contract will be with us.

You'd assume with Marshall that it will be very cheap for us. Derby so desperate to get him off the books they would likely accept a deal where they keep paying a portion of his wages for the rest of the season, even if it's a permanent rather than a loan.

A new one that, usually we find out that they were injured just after we sign them.

Not seen it done whereby everyone knows he's injured before we sign them, which we will eventually anyway.

It will mean the staff won't be able to use the excuse of "we didn't know until after" as everyone knew in advance this time.

Assuming of course that we getting reports from a reputable news source .... oh my sides!

zzzzzzzzzz

Don't see why we'd sign him if he's going to go straight to AFCON.

He's not. Badly worded tweet - I think he meant that Marshall will have a chance to play for us as our 1st choice keeper is at the AFCON.

Most likely Marshall isn't actually injured but they wanted to pull him from the u23 game to get the deal through.

Mel Morris has everyone on strings, as we all know.
