Women’s Euros 12:02 - Jul 6 with 16605 viewskel

Anyone going to be watching it? Quick straw poll at work suggests people aren’t interested but I’ll take some of the games in. The standard has improved in the last few years (apart from a few teams) imo and it’s a football fix until the season starts.

I think a lot of Manchester United teams use Leigh Sports Village as their home ground.

It's a superb set up, great standard training pitches next to it and even the hotel across the car park

Does anyone know whether or not The Dale tendered for Spotland to be a venue?

I doubt we've got anything close to the facilities they need.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

They used Rotherham yesterday and they used to have glass on the pitch according to Hilly?

England on fire, 6-0 in the lead against a very strong Norway. Some scintillating football.

Yes probably more to do with lack of training facilities close to the ground. The actual stadium is probably ok. Also the pitch is worked on at this time

They've been fantastic to watch. Tremendous performance so far and the quality of their play is outstanding.

6 - 0 half time. WoW.

Very good half. Norway are no mugs but they’ve been absolutely outplayed and look dead on their feet.

I'm not even sure the stadium would be OK for UEFA requirements. There would have to be a lot more media facilities, for starters, not to mention more hospitality areas than we have.

It's our ground and we love it, but this tournament is by and large being played at modern stadia.

That's fair enough, thanks for your insight. Never thought about media and hospitality.

Big game tonight, anyone watching?

Probably the best chance to beat Spain we could hope for with two of their best players missing. Think it will be a tight game but fancy us to just have enough to get through.

How fabulous was that?!!

For an hour, Spain looked like a team that could win the tournament, playing just like their male counterparts used to and dominating every area of the pitch. But after taking a deserved lead, some very astute changes by Wiegman put us on the front foot and we showed so much tenacity, team spirit and talent to claw our way to victory

Is it coming home? I wouldn't bet against this group of women!

Big game tonight and I’ve got a bad feeling about this one. Sweden are a very good side and had something like 34 shots in their last game (albeit only 8 were on target) so we’ll have to be on our A game to win.

Fingers crossed I’m wrong and we make the final.

I'm feeling much the same. Sweden are a good side and England still aren't 100% familiar with the system they're playing. Don't think either side is a nailed on favourite but it's definitely the toughest game yet.

I'll be there tonight and at Wembley for the final.

Sweden have n't peeked yet.......hope they leave it till after tonight.

Just hope R'Kiera has a good game in midfield, mindful that she was subbed late on in extra time in last game (possibly just cramp). Bit of an unsung hero.
