To see fans in the WC wearing the kaffiyeh or shemag?

Often in their teams colours.

Doesn't look that respectful to me.

Why? Is it inappropriate for Saints fans to wear a fez for Hassan Kachloul, is it wrong for an English man to wear a kilt or a non brexiteer to wear Lonsdale trainers?

Would we be offended if a foreign team’s fans came here and wore bowler hats or flat caps in their national colours?

Looks like a case of assuming offence on behalf of others where there is none (which, ironically, is more offensive and patronising in itself!).

If you go down that route, you racialist and or politicize any fashion, clothing item or artifact that may be associated with whatever interest group may lay claim to its sanctity., whether religious or heritage.

One of our esteemed posters on this forum was famed for wearing a red and white shemagh at Saints games - due to him living in Dubai at the time.

Clearly just me that's the snowflake.

My view is that if the WC was in Israel and all the fans turned up wearing a yarmulk, there would be an outcry.

If the WC was in India and fans turned up wearing a turban in Sikh areas, then again it is disrespectful.

Comparing something like a bowler hat to a piece of headgear that has deep cultural or religious implications for the wearer is crass and ignorant.

I have no idea what a Razzle is.

It looks as though the traditional Arab headgear is called different things in different places.
