Do we need another holding midfield player??
We already have Downes, Charles and Smallbone.
Part of me thinks that as we have to still play Leicester, Ipswich, Leeds and West Brom all away from home, we could really do with some pace to hit them on the break with.
Assuming Sulemana is still unavailable / being difficult etc etc.....
None of those 4 teams have particularly quick defences.
They are all going to be big games, and some pace up top could really hurt those teams.

Pace? Yes - always an asset regardless of the opposition.

Harwood-Bellis is excellent.
Bednarek at least has a few years of Prem experience, and could do a job at that level.
We just need back-up if Holgate goes, which it sounds like he might not. | |

Holgate staying could be crucial, if he goes we are not going to pull in a quality replacement who will be willing to play second fiddle to Bednarek /THB and 4th fiddle to Stephens.
Holgate offers cover at both centre of defence and full back and can feel he is hard done by to be overlooked for the last 6 weeks, I would suggest that by putting Stephens ahead of Holgate over a busy Xmas period he might have made a costly mistake if we get injuries to Bednarek or THB |  |

I would go along with that.
Holgate was decent in his last couple of outings, and apart from hitting the bar against Norwich, Stephens has done little to justify having been shoehorned back into the side.
Martin has nailed his colours to the mast by making Stephens captain though. | |
