Should we have spent 25 million on a striker instead? 17:21 - Aug 31 with 1386 viewsSouthamptonfan

We have spent 25 million on a goalkeeper, which we were all pleased about, including me. But on reflection, and yes in hindsight after another defeat and after Ramsdale has conceded 3 goals, should we have spent 25 million on a striker? Just a thought.

We needed both but if we're going to carry on with the suicidal tippy tappy then it doesn't really matter anyway.

We should've spent £25m on both. That's if we intended to stay up.

I don't think £25m on a striker would make any difference, given the way we set up.

Haaland wouldn't score in this team under Martin.

Striker instead of some of the new midfielders/'inside forwards/wingers, yes; instead of goalkeeper, NO.

Goalkeeper and striker were or should have been our 2 priorities in this transfer window. There is still hope that Archer can succeed as a centre forward if played there. Until that hope dies, there is still hope/wishful thinking.

How's that going to work, given RM would put them on the Wing!

I think Martin expects to score by walking the ball into the net.

We are top of the league for backwards passes so we walk it into the wrong net. It seems bizarre to me, seeing 2 teams attacking the same goal, but I guess that's the wonder of Russball.

Is anyone in our current setup capable of and going to score a goal like Delap did yesterday?
